Jacking up the F
I've searched through the posts on the jacking points and have a couple of questions:
1) given the fact that it is almost impossible to jack the car up with the supplied jack under anything but ideal conditions (and maybe not even then), has anyone actually changed a flat on the road with the factory jack?
2) since there are points on the frame for jack stands, it would seem that you could jack up at those points. Is it really disallowed to jack up the car from these points? Even on a rare occasion?
Even though it's not an every day need to do so, it's kind of frustrating that it is almost impossible to get this car up without a racing jack or a lift.

Before I got my floor jack I used to my factory Jack multiple times. Yes you could use a floor jack to Jack up the car. But without an adapter such as the FIGS Jack jaw you will crush the pinch welds.

I agree the scissor jack seems to work best on a flat surface; I've noticed it'll start to slant even with the slightest slope.
To answer your questions though:
1) I actually use the stock jack to change my brakes.
2) I'm sure you could jack from those points or just use the rear diff or spot upfront like in the photo below.

I carry a 1.5 ton low profile jack and 2x4s in the trunk just in case I need to change a tire. Its come in handy twice already. If you're lowered good luck trying to get the factory jack under.

Picked this up recently from my local Costco. Seemed like a good deal at $99, they have a similar model listed on Amazon for $250. Also bought some hockey pucks to modify as needed.

I use the factory jack from my SW20 Mr2 (same as jack in Isf) to raise the F in my carport with a level cement surface. Lift it under the diff or front crossmember when I need to put it on stands.

Ok, so it's not just me.
I've swapped my winter/summer tires a few times now, and every time, I get amazed at how much the jack flexes when you raise the car up. The first time, I nearly crapped my pants cause i thought the car was going to come crashing down (I didn't notice until after the wheel was already off). This was in my driveway which is relatively flat.

I always place a couple of large blocks of wood next to the factory jack when using it to support the car, in case of an earthquake. And a chock in front of the wheel at the opposite corner.

Haven't even had a chance to use it, most likely after I move into the new place.
Mainly used to take the wheels off so I can detail them by hand. (Yearly ritual)

So, what is the big deal even if the pinch welds get deformed a bit? I have a 2004 G35 coupe that I have swapped wheels at least twice a year every year since 2004 with a 2 ton jack that has a bit of a divot in the part that contacts the car, and yes the pinch weld does not look perfect anymore, but it certainly doesn't seem like there is anything to worry about.
I quickly put this same jack under the F and pumped it a few times just to test it out and everything seemed to be perfectly normal.
Am I missing something??
