Default Extended wheel studs without spacers?

Perhaps this is a silly question, but could extended wheels studs be used without a spacer? More specifically, would lugnuts be deep enough to properly torque if the studs were longer? If the OEM lugnuts are not deep enough, I imagine there might be aftermarket options that are. I'm just wondering if there would be any issues with using extended studs without any kind of spacer.

The reason I ask is that I'd like my OEM wheels to have a more flush look on the street, but I wouldn't be comfortable running spacers at the track. Plus, someday I'd like to get a dedicated (square) set of track wheels. So, if I replaced my OEM studs with something like the H&R product, would there be any issues mounting wheels without a spacer?

My ultimate plan would be to run the OEM wheels w/ some small spacers on the the street, then be able to easily swap to track wheels without spacers.

Good question. I myself like that idea and assumed that if I get extended wheel studs, I might as well go with extended lug nuts. I too hate spacers........

Extended wheel studs can be used without a spacer. To be safe you can get open ended lug nuts. You can run those on the track. I don't have issues with my H&Rs on my Z and it gets driven hard on corners.

Stock lugs will not work with extended studs - I tried when I removed my H&R spacers for a few days. You will need a deeper lug nut or an open ended one.

I purchased these and they worked great for the few days I used them.

They also sell a slightly shorter version that will work, but I cant find the link...

I always thought you shouldn't use aftermarket lugnuts on OEM wheels due to the seat shape. Just something else to consider.

Open end lugnuts is your answer.

As long as you are using the correct type of lugnut (OEM or aftermarket),you should be fine. Our cars requirea magseat with washer.

The other 2 types are not designed to work with our stock wheels.

And on a related note, ARP makes a high strength extended wheel stud in a Lexus/Toyota specific size. It's available through vendors like Summit & Jeg's.

just came across this forum... i have extended studs on their own on my ‘17 IS in the rear to clear my BBK with my forgestar wheels, obviously when i run my stock wheels the stock lugs and extended studs don’t mix. can anybody send over what lugs they used after installing the extended studs! i’m assuming the stock lug nuts between the ISF and IS350 are similar!

If you can get some GX460 OEM lugs they are deeper and shouldn't bottom out, they are the same thread and pitch
