Lexus Tech vs ISF (Dashcam Vid)
#76
anyone use a dash cam like that ( front and rear) on the track ?? Seems like it would work. All I know is the GoPro thing is getting obsolete when you iPhone can overlap track data onto the video. I only use my GoPro for track time .

I would publish the video calling out the dealership and the technician. Give the video a simple title, something that can be searched for (DEALSERHIPNAME Lexus Tech Beats On Customers Car).
Then goto their google maps review - leave a negative review, and tell people the title of your video on youtube.
Do the same on their social media pages. Their instagram post comments.
Submit the newly titled video to other Toyota, inifiniti, and lexus forums.
Then submit it to Jalopnik.
They will be contacting you shortly thereafter with the desire to properly resolve the issue.
You do not **** with another mans car. This is 101.

When I had my ISF in for the ELF recall. I noticed they put about 20 miles on the car and the tank - avg mpg was 4!
They stated this was because they drove the car to ensure proper operation after the work and to the gas station to fill up the tank per recall guidelines (which they did) which somewhat explains the the tank mpg reset and the low mpg due to idle time while they cleaned it up, performed the state inspection, etc...
Still with all of the other stories around and the low cost, I decided to get a dashcam.
I had it in for service recently and reviewed the footage and for the most part it's relatively uneventful. There was some slight spirited driving hitting the shift beep once but not bouncing off the rev limiter. Also a couple of occasions of keeping the car in the higher rpm range via manual mode downshifting.
Overall nothing I don't do to the car on a regular basis and the comments suggest an overall respect for the car while pushing it a little. At one point they do seem to hit 60-70 mph on a 30 mph back road but again no tire squeezing or abuse.
I did have a diff flush and an alignment performed which warranted the test drive and the comments by the tech during the drive suggest he was evaluating the car while also admiring the performance.
Overall I'm okay with the experience and didn't contact the dealership. I didn't inform them about the dashcam in fear that they would simply disconnect the hard wired plug so I'm opting to keep quiet for now but will continue to review the video on future visits.
It was quite interesting to hear the techs talk about the car and their admiration. I think 3 different techs stated they really wanted to own an ISF but the funniest comment was when the tech was taking the car off the alignment rack...
Tech 1: Do you know how you can tell if someone is a car guy?
Tech 2: How?
Tech 1: Check out the backseat... A Recaro child seat.
Tech 2: Damn!

Haha, I just got mine back for 30k service yesterday (and some other minor things). They managed to put 10 miles on it and dropped my tank average to 10mpg (I filled it up either the night before or on the way in, I forget). Not sure why they drove 10 miles -- I did ask them to refill my tires with nitrogen and check for leaks so I'm assuming its related to that. I'd also think that the low mpg is from them leaving it sitting around with the engine on. Not sure where your lexus dealer is but it would be close to impossible to drag it down to 10mpg actually driving anywhere within 10 miles of where mine is unless it was at like 3 in the morning. I'm not even sure you can get 4 anywhere besides a track lol.

So I took my car in yesterday for an alignment and oil change after the headers were installed by PPE. The tech got it up to about 85 on the on ramp as well before slowing down. They revved it out in neutral 3x (once in the service bay) in the one video I saw, but thankfully they weren't moving at the time. In the end they put on 9.5 miles. Unfortunately the other bits didn't record when they drove it so i'll have to figure out if it's a problem with my voltage controller, SD card, or firmware update. It doesn't appear they unplugged it because even on my drive home the video was missing.

^^^^When I had my alignment done after header install, guess who drove the car onto the rack and sat in it while following the instructions of the tech doing the alignment, then drove it off

Yeah, probably a good idea, but I had to work and wasn't able to hang around. I figured with the dash cam I would at least catch whatever is going on. It worked flawlessly up until I dropped it off, but then I think the parking/event/normal recording modes got all screwy. I normally just have the normal mode going and don't bother to put the parking and event recording on. I did catch that they were admiring the quality and sound of the PPE headers and exhaust.

Whats up F Fam?
I dont really have an update per say, so I haven't posted. I emailed the manager back, basically telling him I want a warranty and if he would like to refund me for my services after that, cool.
Never received an email back so I got frustrated and passed it to my attorney. I have to forward him the emails to look over this weekend.. We should start to see some action.
I'll keep y'all updated. United we stand!

If it makes anyone here feel better this is what happened to my friends loaded GT With track package , wheels and exhaust on a "test drive " 10 days ago. Car was a total loss. Now he is fighting the dealership. I even contacted Jaopnik and hey want to cover the story but now dealer is saying they will replace his 15 with a new 17 at same payment . We kind of have them by the *****, BUT his car is replaceable with the same. Ours are not
