One more time Canadian ISF
I have posted this before. I didn't really get the response I was looking for. I know that there is a 3 or 3.5 % fee for getting the car out of Canada and into US. You have to have paperwork from dealership as well. When you get the car to the US, I have heard you have to convert it from KM to Miles to get it registered. Then I have heard you don't have to. I would like to hear from someone that knows the exact process that can explain it here please. Thanks in advance.

Is the car a 2011+? If so, you can convert the speedo yourself.

I thought someone did say something about not having to switch to KM. Yes possible 2011. I wonder who I would call to make sure when I was at the boarder I would have everything lined up for customs for it to go smoothly and had all my I's and T's crossed. A service tech at Toyota said that fixing them can be a nightmare since there are differences in part numbers and such

I just got back with mine from toronto so I am familiar with the process. I will update more when I register the car Monday.
what you need for the border:
- letter of compliance from Lexus stating it complies with US laws.
- the Canadian registration
- temporary license plate from your home state
- insurance
- packet that shows there are no leans on the car (owner should have this)
- generic bill of sale
- they will bring you in and you have to fill out 3 forms
there is supposed to be a fee of 2.5%.
