Default Price Question on GSF

I just posted this on the GSF board but I know many ISF owners know a lot about this topic so I wanted this board's input as well.

Thanks.

Price question for new GSF.

I have been thinking about getting a new car to update from my stock 2008 ISF with 82K miles on it and my considerations are all the normal suspect cars consisting of the GTR, Z06 and the GSF (all new).

Here is what they just offered me this past Saturday morning:
- $10K down
- Trade-in my 2008 ISF (they offered me $27K)
- 3.94% interest
- 72 month loan
- Equates to a $710 monthly payment

I would appreciate anyone's advice and/or opinions on the above and here is where I have the most apprehension/heartburn:
1) Interest rate. I have 1.9% through my credit union and I told Lexus they could have a crack at trying to beat my rate (this was before the 0%'s came out) so why would they try to gouge me so hard here with 3.94% knowing what rate I had access to being I gave them the approval letter?

2) They think I am dumber than I look. They have to think I am just an absolute idiot and would not notice the huge loan rate discrepancy. I do not want to believe that one...

Before I get all upset, what do you guys think about the numbers?

Thanks!

Negotiate it as if it's a cash deal and use your credit union to close the loan. They should be able to match all the terms besides the rate. I've literally bought every car using this method and it works quite well.

Do you want to buy or lease a GS-F? My local dealer recently sent me an offer to lease a 2016 with $5k down and $729 a month payments.

Leasing one may be another option you could explore. I would push for a zero down lease option, if that is of interest.

You know how lucky you guys are..?! Over in Australia, that car costs $165,000 drive away without any packs / options.

So lest say you get an epic deal for $140 drive away, thats still as follows:

$5k down
5 year loan
30% residual / balloon ($40,500)

Monthly payments $2,250..

You guys are so damn lucky! You can afford to drive these epic cars for a bloody THIRD of the cost i can. I would be in one tomorrow at that price, not kidding, tomorrow.

What's your pay-off on the ISF? Or is it paid off?

They are simply writing you that rate because you have your own credit union. That really doesn't matter if you have a loan secured . If you don't come back with the 1.9 that you said you have, then you will be financing with their 3.94. I just did the math somewhat backwards, and it seems like a decent deal based on the information you provided.

$27K trade in? Jeez. No wonder these cars are overpriced on the used market.

Thanks everyone and hopefully this email will clear up some of the questions for when I wrote my initial question, I was hammered on pain narcotics from a knee surgery last week.

- I am looking only to buy, not lease
- I know I am not locked into their loan, it is just the process that I felt was offending and I will use my credit union.
- I could put down more or less cash
MSRP - $84400
Lexus Incentive - <$9K>
Selling - $75440 (excluding taxes and any or normal dealer fees)

This particular car is on their lot (they are sitting on six of them) and the dealership is about 100 miles away. I have been playing the south, northeast and mid-Atlantic dealerships and they all pretty much fall into one of three categories. One with the selling price starting around $84K with $9K Lexus incentive ($75K selling) and then there is the second group of dealerships that are standing firm with their MSRP of $86K but with giving the $9K Lexus discount, thus making the selling price around $77K. The last group are asking full asking price and zero Lexus money and they are selling around $88K

^^^^^Too funny lol...... well I'm guessing the last group of dealers here are going to sit on their inventory allotment for a while @ 88k!

I love the reliability of these cars, but for that amount I'd be looking at a C7 grand sport or used 911 (or cayman). They really missed the mark on the GS-F imo, but it's a nice car.

Ask if there's a prepayment penalty and, if not, pay it off with your credit union for the lower APR rate.
