rock chips
so just out of curiosity....I know I cant be the only one who made the dumb decision to not get a clear bra...but... I have an Obsidian 2010 ISF with 75k miles. I have probably 6-8 chips on my hood. Its driving me NUTS.
In order to get that fixed do I have to have the whole hood sanded and repainted or is there ways that those can be fixed without having to repaint everything?
Anyone have any tips/tricks to avoid this aside from just a clear bra? What are some of the prices you guys have paid for a clear bra just for the front of the car like 1/4 of the car to be done?
Thanks!

6-8 chips isn't that many..not the end of world. Touch them up as best you can and buy a 3M clear bra from eBay. You can apply it yourself, the hood is easy it shouldn't require a heat gun just a squeegee. Use plenty of soapy water and take your time. A flash light helps to see any imperfections.

dr color chip and then clear bra over . I did that rather than have the entire nose painted. I bought this car to track. Im not going to trip on a couple of chips but at the same time I will at least clear bra. The previous owner didnt have it.

I have 5-6 as well, wouldn't be a big deal except the previous owner filled them in the wrong shade of silver... like others said fill them in correctly and clear bra over it, won't be show car perfect but it will be 90% perfect and good enough nobody but you notices.

I'm personally not a fan of the clear bra..i find overtime it yellows slightly plus I don't like the look of the bra ending half way on the hood and fenders. It may just be more visible on SFP which is what I've owned twice now.

Newer clear bras don't really yellow at all, and I would personally wrap all the way up to where the hood meets windshield and where the fenders meet the door since I would rather go without one and get chips than see that line all the time.

Also, if you're respraying it will never match OEM color just an FYI but if you want to respray then get it cleaned bra'd right away. Thankfully the previous owner of my car had my front end clear bra'd as it saved my car many times from rock chips!

From my personal experience, I will never touch up my F again. When I first got my car, I was seriously driving the hell out of It. The rock chips started coming since day one! Lol...a year later it looked horrible. I went to the dealership I bought 2 bottles of the oem touch up paint. By the time I was done, the car looked good from 100ft away...lol. Let's say my touch up skills weren't up to par...it simply looked liked little patches everywhere. I just got it resprayed and it looks absolutely stunning! Leave it to the pros, the Lexus paint is too damn soft.

My front bumper looks like salt and pepper. I did by my car with bear 100k miles so it was expected. I was going to purchase the Dr colorchip kit soon to try and cover most of them up, then clear bra. He'll I might even get the whole front repeated, but I drive the car way too much to worry about rock chips.

not to make you guys feel any worse but I installed clear bra on my car from the first month of ownership and now nearly 4 years I have no chips on my front bumper or hood at all.
worthwhile investment if you're planning on keeping your car for long.
