Coolant smell and consuming lots of it but no leaks?

Except for the big gap in maintenance history, approx 52k to 89k I think it was? Everything in the first 52k looked good, very good as a matter of fact. The big gap doesn't mean anything went wrong. I've actually sought out a mechanic that personally works on my car. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but all it does it hurt the resale value. The good news is there's no record of coolant leaks, meaning you might just have a chance for Lexus to lend a hand. I am aware the Lexus owners service history allows the owner to manually input data to update the history. That would have been great if the owner would have followed up on that. Your car looks like it was well taken care of. Like most, we all wise up and find ways to get the maintenance done if not better than the dealership.

The dealer called today and said that it is indeed the valley plate and that it will cost $2000! Any ideas on what to say to Lexus corporate? Even if they go half way on it looks like I would be better off at an independent shop.

They're trying to rip you off, a lot of people here have gotten the leak done at or around the $1300 mark............. That's what mine was minus the $500 courtesy credit leaving me about $822 out of pocket for the repair???

Yep same process as mine, hopefully these cases are starting to pile up on them and will get them to move on a solution (i.e. gasket, recall etc...) or something??
Hopefully they at least give you the $500 credit they gave me

Take that credit whatever the amount is and go to a different dealership and get a quote, or tell them that other dealerships around the country have done it for less and there is no reason to charge more for the repair and if so you can show other receipts as proof!

Got a call from corporate today. They said that since my car is out of warranty and I didn't buy it from a dealer it is unlikely that they will pay for anything but will give me a final decision next week. My car has been sitting at Tustin Lexus since last Friday
Can anyone recommend a shop in SoCal to do this? Is it something I could do myself?

I bought mine last year ( second owner) and I got it from a Buick/GMC dealership!?.................... That's an excuse and they gave me the $500 credit anyway, tell them that they need to give the same credit/consideration to all ISF's since this issue is the same across the board!

Do a cooling system pressure test and start from there. Coolant can burn(evaporate by heat if external leak)
If gasket is leaking your exhaust may look steamy, etc. Is the car over heating? It is as simple as radiator cap,
or thermostat or more serious engine gasket leaking. Keep your finger crossed. Good luck.
