Haven't seen that yet, but I just installed mine. Here are the issues I'm having:
1) stock map doesn't dim automatically, I have to either be blinded or turn the dash light all the way up until it clicks, then back down to normal.
2) CarPlay displays, but when I click on it nothing happens.
edit: had to switch the USB cables. Lighting goes directly into one, extended USB goes into two
3) I can't find the sd card in any of the folders. Maybe upside down in the slot so I need to investigate.
edit: tried flipping it around, ended up breaking a piece of the card. No matter what way it never worked. I used to have the option to'mount sd car' but it never did anything. Now I don't even have the option to mount.

They need to redesign the SD card slot completely.

Smart sleep mode support
OTA updates via WiFi (no need to update via USB stick anymore)
All who purchased or testing will get an email blast from us next week with detailed explanations of things above.

will car play still be available to use with the update?
Yes but you will need to reactivate plugin as it will be disabled by default.
Are there any updates for Carplay?
Apple Maps really, really needs night mode - asap. It is blindingly bright at the moment.
That cant be that hard to fix. I assume the vline tells the phone that headlights are on / activate night mode and the phone switches it to night mode?

this looks better.
the current sleep mode is almost inexcusable these days - every time the device boots I have to tap on maps it has to reopen Google Maps each time.

Not many updates. Clearing out code for certification. Night mode is coming. You might need to tap to dimming wire on Gen3-Gen4. Gen5+ should be fine without wire.

Hi, I should be receiving mine later this week for my 2005 GX470. What do you mean by "tap to dimming wire"? Any help appreciated!
I'm buying a 2008 GX470 soon, and I started reading up about Grom's Vline last night, and have a couple questions:
1.) Why does Vline come with a GPS antenna and a Microphone? Does installing a Vline deactivate factory GPS and Bluetooth handsfree calling?
Or are those included for vehicles without those options from the factory?
2.) Does installation interfere at all with the backup camera switching on when vehicle is put in reverse? I want my backup camera to continue its default nav screen override whenever the vehicle is shifted in reverse. I don't want to have to push any buttons or anything to bring it up.
Looks like a very promising product, and once Carplay is certified and the bugs are worked out, I'm most likely gonna get one.

Yes, Grom, please be painfully explicit when it comes to technical jargon! Assume nothing in regards to the lay persons understanding of any of this stuff.
For instance, the FAQ page on the Grom site could use some fleshing out. I feel stupid for admitting it, but I didn't even know it was essentially an android computer for the first hour I was researching it.
The average consumer (myself included!) needs things over-explained to them.
This aside, it truly looks like you have a kick-*** product with a genuine market of eager adopters. Nicely done, and can't wait to see how it develops further!

1. GPS connectors and mic connectors are diffierent in each car make/model, so we need something standard. Your factory peripherals will keep working as before
2. It should not interfere. Functionality of the camera won't change
As of Android based box, we have no FAQ on VLine yet but main page is pretty specific about it: http://gromaudio.com/store/vline/grom-vl1-lex5.html
Let me know if you think it is not clear enough.
