anyone getting the grom vline?

Yes, Netflix needs to be side-loaded. They have specific restrictions that prevents downloading from Google Play store. Here is how to video:

As for VLite VT2, it is for CarPlay and Android Auto. There is no stand-alone built-in Android interface, compared to the VLine VL2. You can compare both features here:

Appreciate the response but I know the difference between the two, and looked at the comparision, but was asking if anyone was using the Lite version here and their comparison..etc.
Looking at a chart doesn't tell real world experience with it. I would have thought there would be more videos ofo it as well but there aren't.
What are the specs of the Lite in terms of hardware? The annoying part to me with the Vline2 is that it's running android 8... which is old. Extremely old in fact. Info on your site is conflicting with the specs of the Vline2. One-page states it's 2gb of ram, while another page on the same site states 3gb.

Understand it. The VT2 does not have any built-in Android, and you cannot access the Google Play store to install any apps to it. VLite VT2 is for CarPlay and Android Auto only. We just added the support for more vehicles, and therefore there are not that many users reviews. You can check the one we recently received for LEX4VT2:

Click on "Read Reviews".
As for Android 8 on VL2, our engineering team is working on the implementation of the Android 12, and you will get the announce once released. You can sign up for our notifications at https://bit.ly/vline_interest
Regarding to RAM, some VL2 hardware versions had 3GB, currently it is shipping with 2GB.

Price difference is negligible in my book, and the resell value of VL2 is probably higher than VLITE. For this reason I may recommend the VL2. The hardware in VLITE is bare minimum since your phone will do all the work. Hence, Id think it should be much less in price. A $20 android 4 phone can run CarPlay no problem. I get that theres grom wiring but I feel like if VLITE was $300, everyone on this site would have one.
Maybe VLITE boots up faster. If it does, its a big plus.
if you do park and maybe eat lunch in your car often, then get the VL2 to watch the videos. I tried torque obd2 software NAV screen and realized that I dont drive a civic so no need.
Offline navigation systems all suck, so thats another reason VL2 is not needed. This is the main reason why I dont need VL2. If Garmin sold a NAV app for $100 that mirrors their standalone devices, then VL2 would be worth it to me.
thanks for coming to my TED talk

Still working on it, thank you for checking. Getting close to the release, and will have the sneak peek video in a couple of weeks.

It really depends on your usage of the VLine VL2 system. If you are using just for CarPlay and Android Auto, the version of the Android OS does not matter at all. If you also use stand-alone Android and download the apps directly from Google Play store, you might want to have upgraded Android OS on the system. Most of the apps are still supported with the Android 8.1 however.
