I am just checking if the update is still on the roadmap
Just wanted to share my recent Grom experience, from an Aussie point of view. I installed a VLite LEX6 version in my recently acquired 2012 ISF. I sourced the unit from Aussie distributor Cushie Audio. The unit was updated to the latest firmware and tested prior to dispatch by the distributor, with a pic of it working on the bench sent to me with the consignment details.

The unit arrived with a paper slip warning of the reverse camera issue which Id already heard about
Time to install! Out with the stock head unit, VLite installed in the glove box and I plugged the lightning cable into my iphone to launch Apple CarPlay. Everything works as expected, including the additional step of exiting the CarPlay UI prior to selecting reverse to view the camera. I reinstalled everything back in place and thats it. It all works. 3 weeks down the track. Still works. Music, maps, touchscreen, phone calls, steering wheel volume and track change, Siri, reverse camera (after a button press and a 2 second wait)
Sound quality is great, touchscreen interface is great. The only possible glitch I can point to is that I cant launch Siri from the track up/down button on the steering wheel. Throwing that in as its literally the only bug Ive come across : ) Any questions Ive had post install were answered by Cushie Audio ( should that little green LED stay on? .), which has been reassuring

2. Can I install the system myself?
Yes, you can install the system if you have some technical ability. You will need to disassemble the portion of the dashboard to connect the system to the back of the stereo and display and install the microphone and GPS antenna. Otherwise, the local car stereo shop in your area should be able to help you with the installation.

The units are pretty solid, I have experience with 3 units starting from the first VL1 pre order. The oldest unit started screen flickering after 4+ years. I guess it was a gvif cable, I have replaced it with a VL2 unit and put in all new cables, no issues since then. Also need to add that the issue was in a pretty hot climate country.
I would also add that I bought the first GROM MP3 and Bluetooth unit in 2014. The company has a very solid record of high quality products...

For those who have this product, how is the longevity over the years? Any known issues?
I have had mine for a couple of years now and have installed one in a friend's F. No complaints. The only issue has been the back up camera not working all the time.
