I just want CarPlay to work with my iphone on IOS11+ and use Neftlix, Waze, and Applemusic for the most part. I figure that should work out of the box if the latest hardware is installed on the unit. With upgrades specs it sounds like I should go for the VL2 but waiting to hear back from Grom.

I know a lot of people are griping about this and that, and I understand their plight, but if you temper your expectation about Netflix, overall you would be a VERY happy customer based on your criteria.

VL2 presale will start next Tuesday. Will ship in late April. VL1 sales will be discontinued around that time but all updates (Android 7.1 and new UI, features) will follow along with VL2. We did not have plans on ending support for Vl1 anytime soon. Make sure to sign up for our newsletter !

I found that strange there's no demos of netflix anywhere, its all about the music...

I've never had luck with Netflix. Youtube, Amazon Unlimited music w/Alexa, Waze and Mixcloud work flawlessly so I'm quite happy. It does take time for waze to boot up, find gps and input address which requires some patience. If i'm in a rush I'll use waze on my iPhone until its up and running in the VLINE.

Also will we finally get a chance to see the improvement and stability with a video demo?

Getting the VLine updates done via USB stick would be great. Some of us don't have very fast data plans to tether. It'll be a 40min drive by the time the update is finished downloading before it installs and finally initiates the boot.
I'm not sure if you've addressed this but on the previous update (I just updated), I would log into my wifi. Then I would use my car another day and I would have to input my wifi password again. It's really annoying when you have to do this for the 100 times that you drive.

Sadly, today's VL2 presale only seems to support 2010 or newer vehicle, and in the case of the LS 460/600hL, it seems to require a model year of 2013 or newer. The GROM website's compatibility list is a bit confusing listing, "Lexus LX 460/600hl 2013-2014". I guess I wait, or buy a newer car.

GROM VL2 response
So I called GROM to ask if the VL2 was compatible with the 2007 LS460 and I was told they didnt know what vehicles, model or years would be compatible with the VL2. The guy said "we don't know anything". They have a ship date of May 25th - I hope they can get all this figured out.
