yup - that happens on occasion. Hope you have the unit in an accessible location - the only way to fix it is to shut down the car for a few hours so it turns off and/or unplug the power to the unit and plug it back in.
Looks like there's still plenty of stability to be worked into the new unit. Not sure if they are going to work on the Android 5.1 stability or the 7.1 ....... maybe Grom should have just delayed until 7.1 was ready ....... and maybe announced the units with a mid-july/August ship date and then pleasantly surprised us with an early ship .....
The good news is the hardware is significantly better - and software can be fixed ..... hopefully the wifi chip issues are software and not hardware problems

I did try to unplug it to no avail. Will try again later to see if it comes back up after sitting for a few hours.
Thanks for the feedback.

We have got latest revision of the MCU from manufacturer with this batch. Will apply all patches from them asap and it will solve the issue. For now the best way to revive would be:
- Press/hold Next track button
- Keep pressing touch screen until it reboots into Recovery, press Restart from the menu
We expect to address this in couple of days. Sorry for that !

Grom,
Thanks for the reply! I was very excited for a possible fix. Ran out from work to give it a try. Held the button down for over a minute waiting for the the screen to pop up, got nothing!

Latest from Grom:
. VL2 will be on presale once we secure all parts and production starts. It will have around 3x faster MCU and 2GB RAM on board. 5G Wifi with best in class Broadcom chipset. Same 16GB Flash for apps. All existing VL1 are upgradeable, you will only need VC1 module swapped with VC2. We will post upgrade instructions once the presale starts. Everything else is the same. All wiring, connectors etc...
Will this update possibility be available for us with VL1, if or when the VL2 will be 100% stable ?
I reccon that this is the season for "presale" start...but I would rather wait untill all small og larger problems with VL2' are resolved. After my first VL1 stopped working , costing me more than1K $'s in car audio/video specialist help trying to find out what stopped it working, I never bothered to install the replacement VL1 GROM sent me..Lost too much hair and beauty sleep after the first one :-(
I am not so "pi××ed" anymore, just want the VLine to work as advertised then and now..on the first try...and for many years to come ;-)

i think ill also wait until they iron out all the bugs that will "definitely" be coming with OS 7.1. I surely don't have the patience or time having to pay close to 600 dollars to be beta tester. once they do iron out all the bugs and come out with a VL2 for more "current" models, this will be a great product that i wouldn't hesitate adding to my 18' NX300 F Sport
