Who here has upgraded to iOS 12? If so, any issues noticed with CarPlay on either the VL1 or VL2??
I just received a VL2 for my newest LS, which I plan to install today. I’m trying to suppress the urge to upgrade all our iPhones to the latest OS for fear of breaking GROM compatibility before having time to play with the VL2. I may take a spare iPhone 5 out of retirement to test out iOS 12 in the car unless I get confirmation here first.

I am installing IOS 12 right now. I'll update you tonight if my car explodes during the drive later.
not sure but was Apple map always somewhat 3D-building looking or has it improved?
Google maps and Waze must not be CarPlay compatible... yet.
Thanks for being the sacrificial lamb ! I am really looking forward to having Google Maps and Waze integrated in CarPlay. Waze works great on the VL1, but I still have trouble running Google Maps direct from the VL1.
I fear that Google has led Joe into trouble instead of to tacos.

Google Maps works fine. It lagged for few seconds but maybe my iPhone 7 is slow.
anyways. It’s all good. I think Grom should come out with a cheaper Apple CarPlay or AA only product.. I would buy one for $300 in a heartbeat. Not sure if I’ll ever use the Android mode anymore (really could use a built-in LTE module.

I don't have that problem (LS 460).
The only problem I have with the iOS 12 update I suspect is an app issue and not a GROM issue. Google Maps doesn't go into night mode correctly in CarPlay. Night mode still works fine in apple maps in CarPlay and on google maps in the app itself (on the phone), but on the Grom (through CarPlay) it shows up in regular (very bright) daylight mode.
Just putting this out here as I may be a fortunate anomaly.. I have had the Vline 2.with the latest software update, installed in a 2008 Lexus GS 350. The system works BEAUTIFULLY. I have a Note 8, my girlfriend has an IPhone X and the Vline works great with both. Apple car play is as seamless on the vline as it is on her factory installed carplay on her 2016 Chevy.
SD card, USB flash drives, and attached chromecast all work as expected with no issues. Knock on wood, ALL the wood, but the $600 investment has been worth it to this point. I literally feel like I have a new car. Just my 2 cents.. Again I have the VLINE 2 installed in my glove box via best buy. I am completely happy.
Just want to share what I have discovered a few days ago: YouTube Vanced.
It's mod of the official Youtube app, but without so annoying ads.
For our VLINE devices we need non root version. Installed and tested for a few days on VLINE 2, so far very good experience and NO ADS
Running Waze through CarPlay is great. I enjoyed using it on the VL, but it's so much more user friendly/simple in the CarPlay version.
I miss that it doesn't show speed (nice to have posted speed limit, but I like the red indicator telling me to slow down), I didn't see where you can send a text of your arrival time to someone, and I also miss not being able to see the delays/incidents along your route options. I agree though, it's a lot easier to just plug in my phone and go than it is to connect the hotspot and wait for the GPS to get my position. I hope they eventually add all of the app functionality to CarPlay.
