As long as we’re looking looking at stock open diff vs. stock torsen diff, yes. The OS giken, you could see through. Here’s how a factory torsen would look like.

Will you educate me on how to use the build sticker to determine if the diff has a Torsen? With the lift in soon, some games may begin.

Scroll down for the differential codes.

I researched this for months on my car by looking at the VIN tags online and locally. the transmission/differential codes seem to be model specific.

For the GS450h 3rd generation, there are 3 codes, all the US and JDM cars have L110 A01A or B01A which is the 3.769 ring gear. The A01A is also used in the 4th generation GS. The Euro LHD and RHD versions have L110 B02A which is the 3.266 ring gear, maybe for more top speed on the unrestricted roads in Germany and parts of Europe. To my knowledge they are all open differentials, leading me to think the "-A" suffix denotes open diff, I have no idea what the prefix means.

Here there is a mix of JDM cars (probably parallel imports) and also Euro RHD cars which came from the Lexus dealer (there's only 1 on this island).

I’ve been wanting to build 2 experimental diffs. The 3.26 would really be the upgrade that would suit the ISF in my opinion. I also want to Frankenstein an ISF torsen into my is350 housing. I love my daily, but a 4.09 diff is insane to not have an LSD.

@lobuxracer does Toyota/Lexus mark/etch their pinion gears with the pinion height spec? I’m asking cause I plan to put the 3.13 ring and pinion in a new finned housing.

Same. Either the 3.2 diff or the 3.1 along with an OS giken. Would be amazing if RR racing started selling pre-built diffs like that with different gear options for us.

On a long enough timeline, I’ll build one. I need to source a 3.26 diff and housing first. Arguably I could just slip a giken into it, and then pull my torsen and, theoretically, install it straight into my is350 housing without needing to adjust any shims. The downside is whether the 3.26 housing will have the same amount of fins and cooling capacity, but I just don’t see an ISF overheating any diff.

If I would ever stop working on house projects, I could be a member of this forum that brings value to the table 😂.

Does this apply to a MY08 IS F vs a MY15 RC F ??

I couldn’t back into the numbers..

Not that I needed since the physical part pics are the tell all…

So I've confirmed that my 2010 GS450h "B02A" came with 3.266 open differential in a nice finned housing... I almost want to put it back for the finned housing alone, but I never track so this should be good enough.. might be good for a project one day

The 3.769 from the AWD RC350 makes a big difference, car feels much more muscular. It is still a wonderfully weird car that dynos around only ~280whp but 620+Nm of torque at 2500rpm according to this guy https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...n-germany.html

can anyone confirm that an OSG is available for this 3.26 diff?

I believe that the 3.266 ring and pinion will work if you swap it into the ISF pumpkin w/OSG LSD. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...l#post10052507

3.266 fits IS350 OSG LSD, which dimensional, matches the ISF OSG per OS Giken USA and OS Giken Japan (I emailed them).

If the RC350 diff fits in the GS450h, I’d wager that diff fits into our cars, since the RCF diff does. That may mean the OSG fits it as well, saving lots of hassle with gear lash. I admit, it’s a stretch, but feasibly true.

Man, I may be a little dense, but I'm looking at that link/decoder and I'm not seeing how the diff code 2GJ (RCF diff) translates. Or am I looking at the wrong code on the tag?

Where is this code? Is it the one on the VIN sticker inside the driver's side door?
