2013 ISF Transmission Question
So while trying to achieve my best possible et at the drag strip something has crossed my mind. Does anyone know if you can start off in manual mode at launch, shift to second in manual mode, and then move the shifter over to auto mode so you can utilize the lock-up mode of the trans after first gear ?
All of my best et's have been in full auto mode, which is odd to me, but my best mph has been in manual mode because I can ride the last gear out in the 1/4 mile. MPH drops some in auto mode because the car shifts to the next gear which costs a little mph at the 1000 ft box on the track.
Any tricks with this trans is much appreciated.

The transmission only locks up the converter in manual mode. It behaves like a regular transmission in auto mode. So if i understood you correctly, If you start in manual in first, the converter will be unlocked. It'll lock when you shift to second, but it will unlock again if you switch the lever to auto. Basically the transmission will never lock the converter performing what I understood you're describing.

The transmission only locks up the converter in manual mode. It behaves like a regular transmission in auto mode. So if i understood you correctly, If you start in manual in first, the converter will be unlocked. It'll lock when you shift to second, but it will unlock again if you switch the lever to auto. Basically the transmission will never lock the converter performing what I understood you're describing.
Ok I thought it locked up in either mode from second on. I will just have to work on my shift points then, thanks.
