High pressure fuel pump oil leak
Guys,
My first post....of course asking for help. I drive an 08 IS-F with 68k. I have oil slowly leaking from where my passenger side high pressure fuel pump meets the valve cover by the battery. It's enough to be running down onto the manifold, and causing slight smoke from under the hood which is how I discovered the problem. I've found the replacement gaskets needed, but want to know if anyone has had this issue, or has experience replacing these gaskets. I've not found any post concerning this, but I'm hoping someone out there has some input. I can smell the oil through the heat system, and of course it's creating a mess on the engine. Thanks! - Zach

Fixed the title.
Those fuel pumps come off for the valve lash inspection. I've had them off. The procedure to remove them is a little complicated compared to most because there are warnings in the FSM about the fuel pipe connectors, and there is a procedure for draining the fuel from the fuel system before removing anything.
If you are losing oil, it's unlikely to be just the gasket. I didn't replace mine when I did the lash inspection as they were still in excellent condition after 62k miles (or so). I suspect you may have a bigger issue and possibly a cracked metal part causing the problem. I would be surprised if it is just the gasket.
No one on this forum has reported this issue, so you're unlikely to find an easy solution in a thread here.

I was really hoping it wouldn't require unhooking the fuel lines, and I could just work around the pump. I'll get a service manuel for this when I finally dig into this, since it sounds a bit more in depth. I really appreciate the feedback! I wondered about the ELF recall as well, and if I could wiggle this in under that.

There is no way you could replace the gasket without removing the fuel lines. The pump is mounted on studs you'll want to remove to be able to get the pump(s) off without issues. AMHIK.
If you are due for ELF, it would solve this for you.
