Should I get the IS F
#46
There is a guy who went form ISF to M240i, very happy, especially with 300-350lbs weight cut, said it's faster then ISF too
PS. Obviously not as exclusive, no V8, and probably less reliable in a long run....u win some u lose some

Don't those M240's come pretty stripped? I mean your paying $50k for a car that doesn't even have a backup camera.

Its 2 years extension to factory warranty, so the warranty is 6 years/100k miles from purchasing date. Best deal is to buy a 2 year old CPO car with 30k miles or so. This way you still have 4 years of warranty plus 1-2 years of free maintenance left.
I am not sure about M3/M5 reliability especially past 100k miles. Some owners swear by it while others have ton of issues. I did not consider E92 M3 for the same reasons, I dont trust those cars.
With M235i (and now with M240i) pretty close in performance it was a better deal, more reliable, and cheaper to maintain. Not sure about issues past 100k though.....until 50k it should be as reliable as ISF
Depends how long you want to keep the car......my '14 M235i with 8-9k miles was the same price as ''11-12 ISF with 50-55k. I am not expecting any issues for another 40k miles even with Stage 1 (370hp/390lb.tq). Engine is beefed up from regular N55, 2014 is the latest revision, the transmission is the same as in M2......should be ok

Loaded M2 is like $55k or something....Hard to get though

Another huge factor in the equation is depreciation. Trust me, I've had many bmw 's in the past and that brand new 240i will drop like a stone in value...not the case for the ISF.

M235i that I bought used is my worst purchase as far as depression, but ISF is roughly the same according to my calculations ))

I am just answering some questions.....
This will open another can of worms. The same quick search says ISF is 12.8-13.1 car according to CD. 12.9 was M235i and M240i is 12.7 according to the same Car and Driver
Not that I actually care about any of those numbers.....I personally have the manual which is slower and much more fun to drive.

Yep, but very similar power. F has better listed 1/4 mile times and 0-60 times. I contemplated a '16 GranTurismo.... Until I told myself there's no way I can pay 3 times the cost of a used '12 or '13 F for a GranTurismo with equal or lesser than performance than the F. Just didn't add up.
