Default RR spark plugs

Just want to order RR Racing one step colder NGK spark plugs. My question is are these plugs ok to use in a DD without any fouling as I don't hit the track like I should (well I haven't hit the track at all so far) and are they Genuine NGK plugs, can RR give some advice here. At the same time I will order the WORLD famous LCA bush's. Being in OZ we NEED a REP because there are a lot of ISF,s over here, I think I would spend $10000 or more if the hand brake doesn't find out cheers Neill. ALSO the iridium ix is only rated for 60000km,s ( which is advertised on RR site) were as the laser iridium are rated at 100000 km,s ?????

I could be totally wrong, but I'm pretty sure you don't need plugs that are one degree colder than stock unless you are pushing big power.... I.E. Supercharger or nitrous.

Just read on the NGK site that if you add 75-100 HP to a high performance motor ( with an increase in compression ) it is advisable to go 1 step colder plug in the heat range, just wonder if this is the thinking behind RR Racing saying to go 1 heat range colder with a FBO ISF motor, and is it necessary or any benefit, or keep the standard heat range. I know when turbo or supercharging you need a larger spark, larger gap, and a cooler plug as you can get spark wash out, and try to help the motor run cooler. The ISF and RCF are a high compression motor to start with, any advice appreciated especially from RR cheers.

Interesting that NGK says that which would hold true for FBO mods adding 80+ whp (+/-).............but those mods don't increase compression from the standard 11:8:1 on the ISF or the 12:3:1 on the Blue top 2UR-GSE unless you add boost (RR S/C) then that would warrant going 1 step colder no??

Good question?......^^^^....I've noticed that too, I wonder if there are any hp benefits that RR has noticed running a 1 step colder plug on FBO mods only?

I know there wont be any HP benefits I just think its to help the head temp.I just want RR to confirm this, and if they sell the standard heat range plugs, because they are $230 in OZ and that's the cheapest OUCH.....

Because usually running 1 step colder plugs helps with pre ignition, especially in boosted cars where a 100hp increase is easily attainbale. An SC setup definitely is more than a 100hp jump so thats probably why they suggest them. Anything below that i wouldnt

I'd inquired exactly this after going nearly full FBO on my IS-F... "Are stock plugs ok with my mods". Their response was literally, "Yes, they are ok, but we recommend NGK step colder plugs for better performance."

My car did great with stock plugs during a full day at CoTA, despite 100F temps and minor overheating issues... Their oil cooler I found will be much better money spent than a colder range plugs. Might go colder when plugs are due again in another 40k, we'll see.

Hi,

Stock plugs are fine. We found colder plugs work well for tracking, without any downside in daily driving. The plugs we sell are cheaper than OEM too, so its a viable lower cost alternative.
