Has anyone ever tried installing one of these types of units that is custom made for the IS? https://www.seicane.com/hd-touch-scr...2-s088729-4908
I watched a video today of a guy who used one to replace the outdated "infotainment unit" in his older SL55 and it looked amazing, so I went to the company's website and found this IS replacement. It's a giant 10.4" display in a vertical orientation, much like the Tesla Model S, and runs on a custom Android system which allows you to install any apps that you want from the Google Play store. It uses Google Maps for navigation, has as input for a backup cam, allows you to pair your phone to stream music from it - but that's almost unnecessary since it has Wi-fi and can run apps like Spotify, Pandora, etc on its own. And it uses the bottom portion of the screen for touch-buttons to control the A/C, since those are integrated into the OEM head unit. Looks pretty sweet, and a great way to refresh the aging 08-14 capacitive touchscreen, which I always felt was somewhat of a piece of crap from day one. LOL

Does indeed look good.
And btw, the '13 and '14 Fs have an updated screen also. Touch screen is better, maps/color/definition better, etc. I've compared my '12 side by side with a '13 and the difference was night and day.

Android 4.4.2? Wow. Really old stuff there. Looks like cool hardware, but they need to bring it to the modern age. Sounds like my S8+ would run circles around it.

Hey my friend is installing one of their radios into his 2004 AMG SL55, it's literally a plug-setup. Heres quick video of it being installed into AMG SL55 actually looks pretty good they did a really nice job making it look OEM but with a much larger screen and all the modern touches. It's a Chinese company, so a little hesitant but a lot of the Chinese tech companies lately have been stepping up their game and making much better products especially if you look at the cell phone industries. And for just over $500 for SL55 its great price. I actually might consider this it's much easier way of updating the radio versus Grom V Line that still seems to issues.

A couple of years ago I bought my wife a Toyota Camry ZR6, came with a after market 7inch screen very nice unit made in china, so I got the Genuine Toyota one with it, took it out of the box and on the back " made in china" you got to laugh...

There are 2 threads over in the main thread talking about these units.

Only issue is the passenger air bag light.
There is another unit people are trying that has that issue fixed.

I've seen a few people in the Facebook groups buy that Tesla looking one and the 10 inch one from Taiwan or China. They all had a problem with either the fit on the top by the vents, functionality, or both. If you can buy it from a seller in the USA with support that allows you to return with no restock fee then go for it. Otherwise I would save your money.... I have the Grom Vline, and although it has had its share of issues, it is sold and supported by the company here in California, so eventually the issue gets worked out. If I bought it from Asia, forget it....

I would like to get this deck and have done quite a bit of research on it.
https://www.amazon.com/TOPNAVI-Android-Stereo-10-1Inch-MirrorLink/dp/B07HF63MP3/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=lexus+is+android&qid=1576631875&sr=8-1
Curious has anyone installed it into an ISF before.
I want to know if the Mark Levinson audio system will simply plug and play and if the CD/DVD portion will still work with this unit.
Most of the threads I have seen, they have been installed in IS250s without the Mark Levinson stereo.
Thanks for your help

Looking at most of these units, they don't seem to support someone with the Levinson/Nav/backup camera as the vast majority of IS Fs have. It would be really awesome to see a Tesla style unit fully functioning in a US IS F. After the GS F improvements in multimedia, the IS F seems pretty primitive.

Agreed, the ISF's unit is a bit on the 08 Camry side of things. Particularly the earlier ISFs with the grey bezel, like mine. However I've got a different opinion on the infotainment thing. Screens to me are a novelty that quickly wears thin. The Tesla's is massive and just blows light pollution all over the car. If you turn it off, there's a black hole (our cars have the same effect, albeit smaller). An old buddy of mine custom built his 13 e92 M3 and stripped down this portion of the dash. The stereo was still decent but discreet, and zero screens. Unbroken rhythmic trim. I am 100% with this even though it's near impossible to come by now. If there was a way to gut ours but keep the Levinson, I'd totally be on board. The ISF's entire head unit looks surgically implanted - it just doesn't fit. Nothing will fix this flaw in my book. I don't see why we need them at all in cars.

Video on a 250. Looks OK. I am hesitant about reliability.

I think even if this didn't support the mark levinson sound system, I am confident I can make it work but how nice it would be to just plug connectors together rather than do a whack of splicing. nope..too easy.

I’d rather just have a basic dash with a backup camera. Fancy units just age cars quickly. My 08 is350 has a nice interior, but the nav unit is useless and looks like it’s from 1970 in comparison to the high quality leather that has aged very well.
Im afraid it will break, the maps are so outdated that sometimes it shows me driving through fields, and the buttons in the console do most of the work anyway. I don’t even touch the touch screen, ever.
