Why do you want coilovers at this point for stance, ride quality or both? If you rebuild KW you can always sell them and recoup some of the money. If you sell KW you can definitely get that $1100+ back if you want to pick up set of more expensive coilovers in future.
For decent set of coilovers you looking at a minimum roughly $2.5k and up. It sounds like you're not ready to commit to that sum of money as of yet. Since this is DD and will never see the track there's no real Rush for coilovers. Comes down to two options one have KW rebuilt for $1100 or two get a fresh set of factory shocks between $800 $ 900 for now.

I’m going to be ordering these in the spring:
https://shop-fortune-auto.com/collec...ries-coilovers
i have these on my G coupe with the Swift spring option and they are really good. I’m not tracking the car, so, don’t need to spend the high end cash. With Swift springs and extenders I believe it was right around $1250 shipped through the vendor that supports the G35 site. Can provide more info if you are interested.
The nice thing about the Fortunes is you can pick the spring rates and then they match the valving to them. Each set is made to order and since they are in the US there is very good support in the event you need anything from them, revalvimg etc. They also provide dynos with the shocks.
They also have a 510 series that is rebound and compression adjustable which would be even better, however, for some reason they don’t offer it for the IS lineup. But, based on my experience with the 500s on my
G I’m going to go with 16/14 Swifts and ask them to valve the shocks a bit stiffer as though they were for 17/15 or 18/16 springs. Since the compression is not adjustable, I tend to like to be a bit on the higher end of the stiffness range. Rebound is adjustable.
