I had been running a 18x9.5 +45 square combo with 275 35 tires for more then 3 years. It has been great so far. I recently change from Enkei PF01 to WedsSport SA-20R. So far, I'm loving the look
Great choice in the wed sports! I had the SA15R in the BLC color also, 19" though. I'm considering the SA20R again in 19x9.5.
It really depends on the tires. Some 275s have a 9.7 inch tread width and some 265s have a 10.2 tread width. It’ll be very close, so I recommend having tires fitted at a shop where you can return them if they don’t fit. I’d start with normal 265s and go down from there. FYI a 255 on a 9.5 stretches enough that you have no outer rim protection. I have a 255 on a 9.5 just because it needed a tire, and if I lay it down the rubber doesn’t touch the ground, the rim lip does.
Here are shots of my 18x9.5+38 with 255/40 in front, and 275/35 in back. I didn't feel like they were stretched in front. Tires are bf goodrich sport comp2.
Awesome wheel suggestion on this thread at +38MM offset. I have a newb question, if you add a spacer of 7MM, does that net you the ideal +45MM offset that everyone seems to like for a square a setup?

Adding a spacer would mean you will be subtracting.
Ex. +38mm Offset with a 5mm Spacer =
38-5= 33mm Offset.
Obviously less offset means the wheel will be poking more.
I've seen it mentioned that 18x9.5 +45 is the best for a squared setup. Trust me, you have to roll your fenders in the rear if you are lowered with a wide tire on +45...if you corner with any real force. I've run that and it is good compared to more aggressive offsets, but for the F squared I think 18x9.5 +48 or so would probably be ideal. It would basically come down to how conservative an offset can you get away with and not rub on the inside while turning. Now if you are running staggered then going +55 to +60 or maybe more in the rear would allow you to run wider rubber.
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't mean "best" setup. Best is a very subjective word. I mean optimal offset to fit the widest tire.

So I’m the OP who had the 18x9.5+38 square setup as posted up top. Although my rears were already rolled the only issue I ever had was with my fronts ever so slightly rubbing on hard dips. I also ran 255/40 to run same OD as stock, but I see now that some with 18 run 265/35 275/35 even 285/30 all which have lower tire height which may help with rubbing also. I was at about a one and a half finger gap front and rear between tire and fender.
Secondly, I wanted my 57CR in 19” to get a bit better aesthetic but still be lighter and wider than stock wheels. The 18x9.5+45 intrigued me and this I got 19x9.5+45 square 57CR wheels again. Tires are Mp4s 255/35 and Mpss 285/30. At the same exact height I have zero rubbing of any kind, and I may even drop my front a little bit to get more rake. The front could use more offset to push it out but I’m fine with the way it looks if rubbing isn’t an issue. Also, with the +45 the wheel rim was extremely close to the silver arm by the hub. Sorry but it’s early and the name escapes me, but it was too close to even shove a pinky in there. Will hopefully post better pics next week.
Damn it's really tight in there...Im guessing this is the rear? .... What are your tire specs? Can you post a photo of the fronts including tire specs ?
I understand you can fit that wheel with a narrower tire. Your car looks good BTW.
I was just making a statement about the optimal wheel offset if you want to run the widest tire possible on a square wheel setup...especially if the car is lowered and tracked. I fit 275/35R18 RE-71Rs on all corners with 18x9.5 +45. With the rears folded flat it still rubbed a little, but only on hard bumps or extreme cornering. A 9.5 +48 probably wouldn't rub at all, especially if the car was a little higher. I am fairly low though and the 275mm RE-71Rs are really wide. Here a pic comparing a 275/30R19 Michelin PSS vs a 275/35R18 Bridgestone RE-71R (They are closer to a 295mm).
