Some have fit 275/35/18 RE71 with no issues, and lowered. Some have rubbed on the inside with a 45 offset and 275, or at least been close to rubbing, others have plenty of space. Some have rubbed with 285s, others have not.
I wonder if these cars are not all exactly the same. My driver side rear has slightly less fender clearance than my passenger side rear. That’s a good example. I ordered these spec wheels and accept that I have no idea if they will fit lol.

For me the wheels were in stock in the exact rare color I wanted in square setup, literally the day they landed in the US the next day they shipped to me. Secondly, the offset is fairly similar front and back. If I can get away with more tire in the back and not have any rubbing issues in the front with same offset, why not? Ideally I’d have gone 8.5-9” wide in front but the wheels I wanted weren’t available in those specs or in stock.

My two cents in the convo.....I had to run 4mm spacers when I had RPF1s 18x9.5 45 offset to clear the calipers. I ran and currently still run 275/35 18s, I don’t rub at all but I’m not dropped either

Yes. I ran it all last year and liked it. Since then, I’ve gone with the same exact wheel but in 19x9.5+45 square. I like it in 19” more and the less aggressive offset let’s me run meatier tires in the back as well. I run 255/35 285/30. Before I ran 255/40 and 275/35 on the 18’s.

Made the switch! Loving the meaty setup, though I may add a bit of silver trim to the wheels and am contemplating painting the skirts/lip either silver or gloss black.
Tire size was 255/40, 275/35, no rubbing at my height unless it's on deep dips(I also have my coils set a bit soft). Tires are BF goodrich sport comp 2 summers. Very grippy, though have only launched it once. All in all compared to 2008 OEM wheels, I saved 1 lbs in front, and 2lbs in rear, with wider tires with same sidewall.

After seeing those who've had success, I'm hoping to also go to a 18x9.5 +45 square setup and RE-71R for the track. Looking into Speedwell RS-R wheels but haven't found any reviews though I've seen them on the vendor's ISF.

18x9.5+38 square setup with 255/40 275/35. Although my rears were already rolled the only issue I ever had was with my fronts ever so slightly rubbing on hard dips. I also ran 255/40 to run same OD as stock, but I see now that some with 18 run 265/35 275/35 even 285/30 all which have lower tire height which may help with rubbing also. Looking at what so many others have run since I did this setup, 265/35 or even 275/35 would have been better to do square.
