Default Buying a 2011 IS F

found a 2011 model with 84k miles with 2 owners and multiple service records for basic inspection. worth to buy this model? cross shopping with 2015 335i with low milage.

Also how much is repair/maintenance cost on this vehicle, and how long do these cars last?

Simple answer based on probability, get the Lexus. You won't regret it. As stated above, lots of owners here from the Merc, Audi, and BMW communities are here for a reason. The ISF is as reliable as they come and it has over 400hp.

As he said, hard to beat lexus/toyota reliability.

ISF is a special car and has been proven very reliable other than a few minor known issues you could run into, not much to worry about. You get more power, better handling, more unique/rare car over the 335, kinda no brainer IMO unless you just want a newer car?

2011 is a good year to buy, has completely revised suspension, real LSD, LED headlights, Alcantara seats, upgraded tach with larger RPM center gauge, nicer wheels IMO, upgraded nav/bluetooth functionality I believe?

Theres a lot of nice goodies in the 2011 over the 08-09 cars for sure.

2011 ISF was able to outlap the E92 M3 as well

google and this forum have probably 90% of your answers.

This car is a Toyota so you know its reliable, but at the end of the day it all comes down to how well the car was maintained previously.
BMW I'm just not going to say anything since I have never owned one, but only thing I can say is that they devalue a lot more than lexus.

As a used to be Nissan guy. I have seen some 2016 Q50 red sport 400 for low $30s already and I would buy that for piece of mind vs the turbo bmw. Its a new body, tech, with 400 hp and reliability.

i don't think the q50 or nissan is reliable overall, if i am not mistaken someone on fb just posted he was tired of his car and was looking to purchase an isf for that reason just my .02

good luck in your search for an isf, i just bought my second F first one was 2008 and new one is 2012. let me know if there's any questions you might have.

"Also how much is repair/maintenance cost on this vehicle?"

Your question reminds me of the time my tax guy said I owed money and when I asked the amount he said "not very much." When I saw him in person and learned it was almost $4000 owed, I immediately thought - our definition of "not very much" greatly varies lol....

I'm a tightwad so any time it comes to costs on the F, they seem high to me. But then again it's a HP car so that is to be expected. I had two Audi TTs and then a M3 before the ISF. All were nice cars and luckily I never had any major repairs. The SMG use to scare me on the M3 though. I got rid of that car when my parents offered me the Lexus at an incredibly low price. Now I'm at 78k miles and the F is my daily driver (weather permitting). I do get tired of buying expensive tires and $100 oil changes but since I only put about 7,000 miles on the car a year, I just suck it up since the car still looks good after 10 years and it's paid off.

A while back my nav screen went out of the F. The dealership quoted me $3,000 to replace it!!! No way am I paying that. I'll call junkyards or search ebay before I pay retail. Anyway, I have driven the car a couple years without the nav screen working and I'm still surviving. But it's stuff like this that makes me just want a cheaper simpler car next time around. I'm over all the bells and whistles.

We all have different budgets. If you can comfortably afford the ISF then go for it. It's a fun car. But if you're signing up for 5 years worth of payments and not sure if you can afford the maintenance - then skip it. No car is worth that.

umm..ok. I have extensive ownership for infiniti vehicles and practically lived on the board and visit the q50 board as well. Never heard such a thing. Yes they might not be toyota cheap when it comes to maintenance, if you can afford to keep an ISF you can afford to keep a q50 red sport too.

Unbelievable that Infinity didn't equip the Q50 red sport with a LSD!! Sucks that your one wheel drive trying to put down boosted power stock let alone modified with higher boost levels

Lol lets go after Infiniti. Neither does the 08 ISF I own. Its plenty fast and plenty fun and the 90% of IS-Fs.

Just in general toyota/lexus is a way more reliable brand than Nissan, just the facts.

I doubt the q50 will turn anyones heads, its just another newer sedan on the road where as car guys know the ISF is a special/rare car and tend to pay attention when they see one.

ISF> q50

I wasn't "going after Infiniti".............I was merely pointing out many of the complaints are from Nissan/Infiniti fan boys and not just critics of the Infinity brand. It's a shame they didn't equip the car with a proper mechanical LSD because when these guys are boosting above stock levels it makes it harder to put the power down that's all.

By the way I do like Nissan/Infiniti products and have no qualms with the brand.
