Tire debate. 245/40 & 275/35 VS 245/35 & 275/30
About to order tires for my 2008 ISF and I知 debating between 245/40/19 front & 275/35/19 rear VS. 245/35/19 front & 275/40/19 rear. Stock 2008 wheels, stock suspension and ride height.
Another option is 235/40/19 front & 265/35/19 rear. I知 lost.
Also debating between Michelin Pilot Sport 4S VS. Pilot AS3+. Daily driver car, Chicago weather, 99% street driving and 2-3 track/DE events per season. I know the 4S is a summer tire, more suited for track, but thread life is rated more than double on the AS3+. Not concerned about setting lap records at track events, again only 2-3 events a year tops. I do have a dedicated winter tire/wheel set as well. Thoughts ?

Here is my own personal experience. I have a 2008 daily driver year round with stock wheels and suspension (for now and live in Cincinnati.
I've had stock size AS3 that lasted for 20,000 miles and 2-3 track days.
I now have upsized continental DWS06 at 245/35 and 275/30 that also lasted 20,000 miles and 2 track days.
I plan on buying PS4S as dedicated summer/track tires next month even though I will only track 2z3 times a year.
AS3: these tires were actually pretty good at the track for an all season. Better dry grip than the Contis and decent in the snow for the first 7,500 miles. However they were terrible (downright scary) in light snow after 7,500 miles. Same experience on my 1st gen IS300.
The DWS06 have much better wet grip but were lacking in track performance compared the the AS3 (and yes I know it's an all season).
I chose the upsize based on feedback here and have similar but slightly smaller diameter. No issues and love the meatier tires.
I am moving to PS4S because I am craving better track performance and will eventually move over to a dedicated winter setup.
hope this helps.

Review these tire charts giving a breakdown of all the different tire sizes with their heights and other vital stats. Below charts you will find additional information I provided for you.
When upsizing tires I wouldn't go more much more than .50 or so over recommended tire size.
245/40/19F total rim and tire height is 26.72 in my opinion is too tall. I know, tried it once just for ****s and giggles a friend mine had extra rims with set of 245 at his shop we mounted them put them on my car I drove around low and behold they would rub fender lining I just didn't like the way they drove just way too tall in front.
I would recommend 255/35/19F total rim and tire height 26.03 that's oem height,
275/30/19R total rim and tire height 25.5
275/35/19R total rim and tire height 26 .58
I'm running in the front 255/35/19 in the rear
275/35/19. I love this set up you will see several members who like to drive their cars aggressively as well as track them tend to use this setup. The 255 and 275 will fit on factory rim with no rubbing issue at all.
I live in New York it's DD and like you we get the plenty of snow out here I tried using all season tires and they just don't work for the northeast or Midwest drivers too much snow all seasons are good for folks that get an inch or two of snow. And let it be icy conditions out and that one or two and snow might as well be 10 inches of snow with all season tires in on an ISF especially if you need to go up hills. I just elected to buy a set of dedicated snow tires Blizzak WS 80s pick up some basic black rims nothing expensive nothing crazy cuz they would only be on for about 3 months no more issues with snow.

I had 265/35 PSS rears and they were perfect. They don’t have this size in the PS4 currently.
I also had 235/40 PSS and they were too tall, I hated the look and the car even felt like it rode high. Ended up buying 225/40 oem size for looks. A 245/40 would look ridiculous.
Now I have 245/35 and 275/30 PS4 and I think this is the best compromise for looks and performance.
If you have dedicated winter wheels, you should go PS4.

You got any pictures of that setup?

Others have mentioned that they have rubbing issues with 245/40/19. Well I am running 245/40/19 on the front and 275/35/19 on the back and I have absolutely zero rubbing issues on stock 2012 rims and suspension. No issues even with four adults in the car.
As far as looks is concerned I doubt the average onlooker could tell the difference. I got used to the additional 1/4" increase in height pretty quickly.

Thanks for all your replies, tire height comparison and input. I decided to go with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 245/35/19 and 275/30/19, as many have recommended.
FYI, Discount Tire Direct on eBay is running a $100 off if you spend $400+ on tires through March 19, tomorrow. That痴 $200 off front and back on already low priced tires. Use promo code: PMOTORS318.
Cheers.
