Default Introduction / NJ Shops

Hi all, I'm the proud owner of a 2008 IS F. I have had the car for a few months now and it's a great machine. I previously had an Audi RS5 which was also great, but transmission issues steered me towards buying the Lexus. Anyway, now that it's warm outside, I want do do some mods to the car, namely headers and an exhaust. After a lot of research, I have decided to go with the PPE headers and a JoeZ exhaust. I am from north NJ, are there any IS F owners in NJ that can recommend me to any local shops they have done work with before? I want to make sure I go somewhere where they know what they are doing and do a quality job. Open to anywhere in NJ and NY.

How about PA?

RR Racing is northwest of Philadelphia. They know these cars very well, and if you buy your parts through them, I'm sure they'd give you a decent deal to include installation.

I use AZP Installs (http://azpinstalls.com/web/) in Kenilworth NJ for my regular maintenance stuff and bolt on mods (like exhaust/suspension) - great service and great group of guys.

For headers I would take the drive to RR Racing..

Lexus of Larchmont NY just 30min ride from Tappan Zee Bridge to Larchmont. I have personally brought over several ISF CL members to have headers installed at this dealership including set of Novel headers and Exhaust. The master tech Walter does all header installs, they are reasonably priced they guarantee their install work and its Lexus quality install. Walter is extremely meticulous when it comes to his work. He is just one of hand few of master tech that are authorized to work on LFA in entire USA. You even get loaner while they work on your car. Let me if your interested.

If you don't mind traveling to South Jersey, check out https://www.lojkits.com/ . The owner helped me install my headers and said he'd be more than happy to offer this install to any other F owners. Great company and does quality work.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your choice. I've had mine for 2.5 yrs. and always enjoy my time behind the wheel.

I have a friend who recently purchased a 2014 RS5. It's a gorgeous looking machine inside & out. How does the driving experience compare with the Isf?

I'll be honest, I definitely prefer the performance aspect of the RS5 to the ISF. The dual clutch transmission shifts ultra fast, the handling is fantastic, I loved the fact you can mute the exhaust or open up the valves and make the V8 roar at the push of a button. The RS5 seemed a little bit more balanced as well. But what I miss most are the downshifts, rev matching at any rpm range. There was nothing like hearing that engine rev at 8300 RPM.

With that said, I miss the RS5, but I don't regret getting rid of it. The Lexus is great in its own right. The Lexus feels quicker because it's lighter, and the dual clutch on the Audi seemed to be confused or clunky at acceleration. Plus nothing beats the reliability of Lexus, and that's what really made me make the jump to the ISF. Congrats to your friend, it's a fantastic car.
