How to turn off the factory TPMS?
#17
my local mechanic suggested to me that I should unscrew the dash and desolder the LED for the low tire warning light lol. If anyone can find a way to disable it... another way... I'll actually paypal a small amount of cash. since the LED is driving me insane and I don't trust myself doing something I've never done before lol

I've checked the sensors with a TPMS scan tool, and it displays the exact pressure reading, so I'm not sure why Lexus didn't include functionality to display actual readings instead of just a dummy light. The downside of having position-reading sensors, is if you rotate the tires, the positions no longer match up, unless you get it re-programmed. We have actually had some vehicles that will throw the TPMS light if you rotate the tires, and the sensors are not in the spot the module thinks they should be. This stuff is all a cash grab IMO. Makes like Honda and BMW just use wheel speed sensors to determine low tires, zero sensors or BS required.
I couldnt stand the TPMS light and CHECK SYSTEM!!!!111 in my display, so I cheated the system by purchasing a wheel barrow tire, and putting the sensors between the tube and the tire. Its been working great for the last year so far. The wheel barrow tire rides in the trunk. Only had to top up the air in the wheel barrow tire twice.
