I purchased this in 2011 for my old Honda del Sol after doing a motor swap with a JDM ITR engine. When I got my 07 IS350 I also used it there. Now, I have installed it into my 2008 ISF.
One of the most useful features that I think the ScanGauge brings is that it is capable of reading Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) via the "XGauge" feature. I think this might streamline the process of checking the temperature of the transmission fluid while checking the level, or if nothing else it is a secondary confirmation that the fluid is up to temp. I am unaware of what the maximum operating temperature of the transmission fluid should be, but the highest that I have seen mine was about 205F on a 90+ summer day here in Nashville after doing some in-town driving. I will confirm that it also takes MANY hours for the fluid to cool.
I installed it with some Velcro for easy removal as I occasionally take it out and use it to check codes on another vehicle.
Here are some pictures of it installed in my ISF in the same location that I used on my IS350. I will get better pictures and post when I am not at work.
There are definitely options out there for the Bluetooth OBDII receivers. They do work well. However, the one your mentioned is not compatible with my iPhoneX. There are some out there that work with iOS though if someone else was interested in looking into this route as well.
I just prefer a dedicated option as opposed to using my phone, which I am already on enough as it is.
^^^^^The OBD Link App comes with the OBD Link unit, and will on work only on OBD Link devices. It is functionaly identical, same software author, to OBD Fusion. I like the app a lot. I drive with the dashboard on my phone (phone is in a holder) most of the time. I particularly like the Temp gauge, digital speedometer, digital tach and digital voltmeter.
Copy that. Thanks....
May seek out the wifi version as in most cases it can handle more bandwidth than bluetooth. Not to mention car uses many bluetooth functions that are handy and need disabled to use obd hardware.
^^^^I'm using Bluetooth with the OBD device and with my phone. My phone recognizes both and has not issues. I also have my phone hooked up by BT to my home phone (VoIP) system and my hearing aids.
