Default Thump in driver side door on startup, deceleration

Greetings everyone, I am new to the forum so please bear with me if this has been dealt with already (I am still learning the search function). I recently purchased a 2012 ISF, low miles (27K) in great shape. This last weekend I started hearing what I would describe as a thump in the driver side door upon startup, and although less pronounced it can be heard on deceleration as well, just as you take your foot off the gas. I have started the car with the door open and the noise really does seem to come from the door, not the exhaust or other location. It is a low frequency noise and sounds both a bit pneumatic and a bit electronic like speaker pop. At the same time, the audio system seems to be malfunctioning. I don't know if the two are related at all, but I mention it because its an odd coincidence. I am baffled and am hoping smart folks here can assist - what is inside of the door that could be making such a noise? Many thanks!

Is it the speaker? Have you tried to start the car with the stereo/audio off?
Welcome to CL. What part of WA are you in?

Thank you for the quick reply - I am 99% sure that the noise is present whether the audio is on or off, but I will double check that tonight. Car is in the Tacoma, WA area. And thank you for the welcome.

I'm just wondering if its a speaker issue since you said something is wrong with the audio system.

After a bit more online research I believe the culprit to be the audio system. There are quite a few threads on various sites discussing the exact issue - the head unit works but the audio does not, accompanied by thumps in the doors (from speakers) when the car is started. Typically it is either the amp itself or a connection from the amp to speakers getting grounded. By starting the car with my head against the speakers in the driver door I confirmed that the speakers are generating the noise. Thanks everyone.
