Default Leaking Oil

Hey Everyone,

Woke up this morning to find oil in my driveway.

Lifted the car and found a drip coming from the bottom of the car.

Coming down at 1 drip per 2-3 seconds....

Is this a Oil pan leak or can it be coming down from somewhere higher up?

Looking to resolve the issue asap as i need to drive 500 km tomorrow....

Thanks

Update- i brought my car in for a oil change a few days ago and i noticed now they overfilled my engine... Almost double over .... Can this be the cause of the leak?

Possibly, drain it down to the correct level.

Before you do anything with it, you need to call them and report if there has been any damage done. I'm sure they will argue that they aren't liable for ridiculous reasons but it is worth it to try.

Default check your transmission oil

if the amount of oil currently in your car is about double, this would indicate one of two things:
1) engine oil was not drained before adding more.
2) they drained the transmission oil instead of engine oil accidentally.
I would agree with Kenny that you get on the phone with them before taking any actions whatsoever.

physically document your observations also (this forum doesn't count).

I called, they told me they could not do anything because they don’t know if me or anyone else added oil after they....

i had to drain the oil because I have a road trip to do tomorrow and didn’t want to risk anything else...

looks like the oil was coming from above the oil pan if that’s even possible... there were a few bolts and hoses that had oil on them... I cleaned the area and will check again when I get back from my trip... hope the oil pressure dude not blow out a oil sensor or something....

It's possible that they were just really sloppy with the oil and spilled some when they were adding it.

I would push the issue and make sure that you document it. I have seen videos on YouTube of people having issues like this from repair shops and demanding to see some footage (or have the manager look) from inside the shop on the day they were there. In one of the videos I believe the person got the manager to look at the footage and sure enough the car was never filled with oil before it was driven away. Maybe yours was never drained?

What shop was it ...not Bill the bald butcher from Boston. 😀 I hope it was just oil spilt when filling also it is so easy to change your oil on any car except Veyrons etc but if you have that sort of money don't go and see Bill, you just get big Bill good luck on your trip.

Jiffy Lube loves to forget to drain the oil, or they drain the oil and forget to replace the oil. Hopefully it wasn't Jiffy Lube

Yeah, thought the same exact thing.

That's.....a lot of oil. But, Jiffy Lube is known for glorious failures.

I'd take a sample asap of your oil and send it to a lab to get analyzed, just for the record in case..... I remember Lobuxracer a couple years ago had a thread about it...
