sorry to hijack a 3 year old thread, but my upper and lower pins in the front is seized/rusted any idea how to knock those free?

I spent 3-4 hours yesterday soaking it in penetrating oil and hammering the absolute **** out of them..Only managed to get the top out of one side, the other 3 will not budge. I don't have a blow torch on hand, but had a lighter that kind of lights like a torch and hit it for maybe 2-3 minutes and tried smacking it with a hammer, but again no dice. The heads on the pin are pretty beat up from the amount of times i hit it with a hammer..might just have to bite the bullet and bring it to a shop and have them check it out..

Probably remove the caliper and press out the pins. Or just get the caliper on a bench with a hammer & punch.

Seems like this is an issue with Brembo brakes. Spent two days trying to remove the pins on my friends Tesla 3 caliper. Its a similar Brembo design except it only has the two upper and lower pins no middle bolt (I think probably because it is 4 piston as opposed to our 6 piston). The Tesla is not even three years old and the pins were seized in there solid. We took the caliper off the car and tried everything but I guess the caliper being aluminum and the pin being steel is not a good mix. Even tried an 8lb sledge but the problem is that the pin would just flex at the middle. Finally took it to a garage and they cut the pin and then used a hardened punch to drive the seized part out. Personally I think all of the penetrating oil and pounding we did over two days might have softened things up a bit for the garage. Anyway I hope this doesn't happen to my F. I haven't done the brakes in over a year so I better get at it soon. I always put anti seize to help prevent this, but that stuff doesn't last forever.

This isn't a Brembo problem, it's a rust belt problem. My calipers have never had even a slight hesitation for removing the pins or bridge bolts. But I don't live in the world of snow and salt. There is practically zero corrosion under my cars - all of them - because I don't live in a place where corrosion is a serious problem.

100% I live in CT (Connetitax) My F has never been in the snow, never had an issue like this. On the other hand, my winter driver has these issues.
