Default Ashtray insert phone holder

I was reading through the phone holder thread and then also noticed someone looking for a place to keep cards or something. I’ve been propping my phone up on the ashtray, but the chrome piece makes getting things out awkward.

So I designed and printed this insert out of semi flexible plastic.

The first iteration had a prop, but I wanted to close the lid without pulling the insert.

So this goes on the left side of the opening with the ash tray removed. The phone rests on this on the left and the button release on the right.

Nice one. I"ve also been thinking of how to use this to hold a phone as the ashtray is pointless to me and it's prime real estate. I don't really understand how the phones sitting on it though, any pics from another angle? Something that props it upright and still allows a charger to plug in would be ideal in my world...better yet, NFC charging. Not sure how feasible all that would be

It’s just sitting there. It’s pretty stable, but launching sends the phone on its merry way.

I have a charger that fits fine, but a larger phone would pose a problem when plugged in.

It it wouldn’t be too hard to make something that held better and just leave the cover open all the time.
