Default Redye of white leather

Cracking, grey and rub marks.
I thought i would post my results after i had taken the plunge to renew and dye my white leather seats where it has been wearing over time. I have a 2008 ISF and only 115k kilometers on it. The white leather was cracking and showing wear on the side bolsters and on the seat bottoms. I have never used store purchased leather cleaner/conditioner as i have never trusted the chemicals in it to properly care for the material.

I used a product called Leatherique to deep clean and condition the seats. You can google how it works but lots of natural oils and massaging to let it soak in.

I took a sample of the leather from the headrest and set it to them for colour matching - they sent my a container of exact matching dye.

I then used the prepping agent and cleaned again, removing oils etc. 400 grit sandpaper was used to remove top thin layer and get it ready for dye. Once the seats were lightly sanded i used a synethic art brush and the dye and carefully brushed each panel, one at a time. 3 coats, separated by an hour each. 20 min dry to touch. I sat in it 24 hours later and 48 hours later it can be used. Apparently 1 month to fully cure.

After pics are great. Leather looks factory bright agsin and perfect match.

Sorry for misorder of pics. You can see what is before and after.

Nice job, Jordan. Your probably saved a ton of $$ doing the work yourself, too.

Thanks. The money wasnt a driving factor but i think it was maybe 50 dollars max. 3 - 4 hours of work. Quite happy although there is some stretch from years of sitting. I dont think i can solve that unless i take the seat apart and pull and re hog tie the leather.

Did your car have blue coloured stitching on the bolster seams? If so, did the white dye cover the blue up?

I do have the blue stitching but you must use a small brush along the edge. In my case, my leather along the stitching was fine and the colour match was perfect so there was no noticeable line.

Good job. That came out really nice and you got the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

No, a clear coat is not needed apparently.

How has a the seat held up since you have redone it? I have white interior with similar wear, and its bothering me how bad it looks compared to how perfect my rear and front passenger seats are!
