I’d mod it, but he is right. People have no idea how powerful the time value of money is. Just research it. If we were smart, we would all refuse to have unnecessary debt, and pay it all off ASAP.
I currently am putting all extra funds to paying off debts, but I built my car first lol (no mods were completed with debt).

My total fees on my loan will be $3700. If I were to take that money out of my high yield savings and pay it back in like a car payment, I'd lose 10k in compound interest. Money can be more complicated than it seems...

You understand the time value of money well. I didn’t mean rob Peter to pay Paul, I meant it’s smarter to pay off debt before modding. That said, I built my car with a loan still on it. My car is my poor financial decision. The rest are good decisions.

On the matter of wealth since finances got brought into the conversation, I have dealt with my share of deaths and having to sort out their finances I've never encountered an instance where they died debt free, some were hard workers chipping away at the debt that never got paid off and some were spending credit and money ignoring debt . who lived the happier life?
