Same here, FBO with the tune passed with no problems. Your only issue becomes the visual which is easy to get by.

its true Lou. I got my ISF smogged last year and all they did was inspect the engine bay and plugged in an OBD II reader. No inspection below the car and no tail sniffer.

If that’s the case, our members can run all bolt ons minus the intake and not have any issues. That’s pretty cool.

It will all depend on the shop. Some will do the proper check by looking under the car.

havent had a sniffer used on either of my car in 4 years at least.
some shops have used a wand mirror to check under my car and then looked under the hood.
others just do the straight obd check

there is a fairly rigurous visual inspection as well, so if the shop is doing the inspection correctly, you will not pass if the car is modified with anything other than CARB EO # labeled parts. There aren’t any that I know of for this car.

you can get lucky and find a shop that doesn’t follow procedures but that’s the exception, not the rule. In my experience (norCal), these are few and far in between. BAR is really cracking down on these stations so YMMV. One of the great “perks” of living in a nanny state.

So this is what I have under the hood currently, this is the stock box right? Would I get away with just purchasing the $90 air hose? If I keep the car, I'll figure out the cat issue somehow.

That "looks" like the stock air box, but I'm not home to check right now. Also look at your retest ticket, does it say test only? or can you go to any station?
