Default 295/30R19 for 2008 ISF (Rear)

Planning to change the tires, have stock setup and 255/35R19s in the rear, wanted to upgrade to a better set, had read about 275 and 285 width tires, but might be able to get hold of Pilot Sport Cup 2 295/30R19 for a bargain and wanted to check with the Team here, if this wide a tire would be usable in the 2008 ISF in stock form?

The tire size comparison shows that 295/30 is 0.06in smaller in diameter, as compared to 255/35, the circumference is 0.19in smaller than the 255/35 and sidewall is 0.03in smaller in side wall, but is 1.57in wider than the 255/35.

Thus I felt if the car & wheel can accommodate the extra width, the diameter and the circumference is quite similar for both the tires.

Your inputs would be greatly appreciated!

There is hardly any rain where I stay.

By the way, also wanted your opinion about air v/s nitrogen filling (I'd driven both and not noticed a difference, but air filling has the obvious advantage that it can be easily topped up!).

Me as well as other F owners have experienced floaty feeling in the rear end when going with anything bigger than 275s on stock 2008-2011 wheels

I bought two 285s to try it out. Like the look of it, but hated the feeling and went back to 275s

Much appreciated, first hand experience is something which cannot be substituted!

It would be a big mistake to put a 295 on the OEM 9" wide rim. A 295 needs at least a 10" rim to perform properly which is why some people reported 285s feeling floaty on a 9" rim. The 2012 and later rims would accommodate a 285 much better as they're 9.5" wide, but even those rims are too narrow for a 295.

With the right rims, it won't feel floaty at all.

As mentioned for a 295/30/19 tire you'll need wheels at 10" wide:

Thank you very much for all the support and feedback. I wanted to also check, if I were to try all four wheels with 255/35R19 (PS4)? I correct myself, I know the front wheels are not 9in. I'm still trying to figure out a combination (depending on availability as well).

most will go staggered still since stock is 8" (8.5" 2012+) front and 9" (9.5 2012+) rear. so typically 245/35 front and 275/30 (or 275/35 thicker) rears is what most people go with

I was experiencing the floatyness with even just hard straight acceleration. Definitely made the car less fun
