Re Check all your spark plug work..

If one is even slightly not seated correctly, it will smell like un burnt fuel mixed with exhaust smell.

If it's been a while you might even find carbon build up inside the spark plug tubes.

I triple checked each plug when working on them. I had the exhaust smell from hvac first day of owning it. The car has no cats. I'm guessing since the fresh air intake is near the hood, an manifold leak would emit some smell. The car has 75k on it. Thank you.

I know this seems crazy, but my exhaust smell seemed worse when I was running my heat when cold outside. I plugged up those vents and that stopped. I wonder if the pressure differentiation pulls more fumes in from the trunk somehow.

Usually not an issue if you replace the ventilators with new ones..

Over time, the flaps become dry and less pliable, allowing air to flow back in..

Doesn't happen when they are new.

I will be doing this as well. Mine are intact, but not pliable. I plugged them up only as an experiment to see if it would stop the smell.

You mentioned the possibility of a leaking header..

I mentioned its good to recheck your work for a none properly seated spark plug..

Which also can create an unburnt fuel smell in the engine bay.

Ask Me How I Know...

"Pressure Vent - Lexus (62930-12161)" is coming up as correct fitment for only 2008-2010 models. Any clues on part numbers for 2011+? I banged around a bit using parts vendor search, came up dry.

This should be correct fitment for 2008 to 2011..

Of course you can always have it confirmed when ordering with VIN.

Thank you Joe, good find and much appreciated.
Looks like I should talk to a real parts person to confirm 2011 fitment. Lexus Parts Now's database indeed shows a match for both pn 62940-24042 andpn 62930-12161. I had been looking at dealer databases, Longo and Carson, which do not.

I ordered pair of 62930-12161 last year and they fit perfect on my 2011 ISF. They cut down my car's PPE headers/X-Force exhaust smell by 30%.

My preferred dealer's parts dept contact confirmed 62940-24042 is correct fitment for both driver and passenger sides for 2011, so that is what I am going with. Evidently the online web portals' database for dealers is built by a third-party, which explains why part number surfing gets adventurous at times like this.
I am still smelling exhaust after leak at header flange was resolved. Impressed by the 30% exhaust smell reduction value. Not sure my nostrils are as finely calibrated as yours, but will report back my estimate after replacing vents. ;-)

Your right..

I'm very confident the new part # covers 2008 - 2014 IS F's

I'm pretty sure they're all leaking by now. When I replaced mine a few weeks ago they were hard as rocks and not sealing at all.

I have had the new parts sitting on the shelf for months! time to install them as my smell has been horrible ever since I have installed PPE headers - put GESI cats, helped a touch but not all the way - Seemed if I opened just one window or two it would blow in a ton of smell - if more are opened it allowed the air to escape somewhat.

now by searching getting some mixed ways of removing / installing

Seems some people entirely did it from within the trunk?

Others had to go from the bottom / bumper area? and others took the extent to even pull off the clips from the bumper?

whats the easiest? (hopefully just within the trunk
