My crap tires are working just fine

The mentality I don't understand is suggesting $2000 tires when my driving habits don't need them. The fact you see it as crippling is hilarious. lol

I have more money in my pocket and the tires still do their job. The feeling of not understanding mentalities is mutual

Ok, but by that same mentality a Yaris or Corolla would be just fine and you'd have much lower operating costs + initial purchase price, so WAY more money in your pocket. Why buy the hot rod of the line with the highest maintenance costs and purchase price "when my driving habits don't need them"?

Well I feel I do need a fast fun car. Just don't need a crazy expensive set of tires

Especially when almost all of the 50k miles I've put on the car have been with those "crap" tires with a lot of highway driving

I will never understand this mentality.

Why buy an ISF if you're not going to get a 2011+ with the better gauge layout, softer suspension and lsd? (this is sarcasm, if you're missing it)

...

Different goals, different budgets, different priorities.

Theres also that part where buying "not so good" tires for a car with relatively high horsepower power becomes a safety issue, just grab the AS3's in stock size and that'll be it. Will give you good life/mileage too if you drive mildly

That's my winter setup and it works just fine. Truthfully, there's only a small difference between the setups and it's only exploitable above 8/10ths commitment.

I ran a set of these a summer and winter, and they worked very well. We get snow here, if your curious. They are on a shelf in the garage right now since I bought 18s. I can’t comment on how they age.

I just changed from 225/40 and 255/35 Indy500 to 245/40 and 275/35 Indy500 on 2010 wheels. The taller sidewall does reduce the ride harshness slightly but noticeably.

I'm still brand cross shopping... Considering going back to Summer performance tire like Bridgestone S04..

Verses finding an all season that I will be happy with..

My commute is 99% freeway / 80 miles a day.

I've had a couple sets of DWS06 which all lasted about 20-25k miles (even with 1 or 2 track days lol). Currently running these year round.
My AS3+ also lasted about 20k miles with 1-2 track days (but sucked in even light snow after 7,500 miles).
My PS4S lasted 10k miles with 5 track days.
I just got RE-71R for the track...I'm sure they won't last long lol.

Regarding all season tires, I have been very pleased with the DWS06. Very good wet traction (rain and snow) and decent dry traction for an all season. The AS3+ has better dry traction but not as good wet traction (especially after about 7,500 miles).

Where you live, there's no need for any all season tires unless you plan to visit Big Bear in the winter. Not worth driving on all seasons all year round. I never used all season tires when I lived in Sacramento, summer only, and if I lived in SoCal, I'd never even consider anything but summer tires. I can vouch for the Bridgestone S04s - I have them in the OEM size on my Supra and they work well even at cooler temperatures, far better than PS4S for sure.
