Default Low charging Alternator.

Hi all,

I need advice about my charging system. I have 2012 F with 62K miles. I measured my battery is about 12.5VDC. When I turn on my car at idle, it's reading 13.3VDC. Is it too low for the F? I could not start the car this morning. I have to have a jump. I also have a dashcam direct connect to 12V supply. Do you think the Alternator is bad? or the Dash cam draw juice out of the battery overnight? Thank you for all advices.

Take a look at this thread:

It sounds to me that 13.3V at idle is normal.

It is with a lead acid battery for sure. I've measured mine and that's exactly what it did shortly after starting.

I was in the exact same spot a couple months ago. I thought my parking cam drained the battery and put a lot of stress on the alternator, but turns out I just needed to recharge the battery overnight with a trickle charger.

I disconnect my parking cam last night, it was fine this morning. Thanks for the advice.

I bought a battery pack and now use it to power the cam while in parking mode. Problem went away. Money well spent.

Could take a picture of your battery pack, and tell me how do you hook it up? thank you.

I used this link as a guide. Very simple to do, just take your time.
