Default Does this belong under passenger seat?

Hello, my passenger seat started squeaking so I tried tightening bolts. I found this (see image). There is no such a metal strip under the drivers seat. Is that supposed to be there? Screws do not feel tight and I cannot get them tight. It feels like they are randomly screwed into the interior. Did I buy a car repaired after the accident?

In short, no, that does not belong there.

Just checked my vehicle, didn't see a strip like that.

I can imagine that being fitted by a previous owner, to mount a fire extinguisher or life hamer (bad location for the latter) onto.

That is not oem. Remove the seat and see if the oem holes are stripped. I’m guessing they were stripped by a previous owner and then unsafely jimmy rigged. This needs addressed for safety reasons.

Wow haven't posted in a while but that has got to be the biggest Mickey Mouse hack job ever, sorry you had to go through this, that definitely does *not* belong there and isn't oem. Those bolts that bolt the seat down to the car are pretty heavy duty 14mm I believe. That looks like someone put self tapping screws designed to support portraits on the wall.

Ditto all this. Looks unsafe to me.

Thread starter didnt mean to bash your thread, but yeah not supposed to be there, I would remove and rethread the original holes to fix this, but definitely not like that with self tapping screws as it isn't strong enough to hold the seat down yet alone the sea with a passenger on it.
