Squeal noise when coasting/decelerating in M mode?
Hey all, haven't been here for awhile and I hope you guys are well and staying safe these days.
My '08 has a muffler delete and about 99% of the time I drive with the windows up, A/C on with music playing medium or louder. Yesterday I was almost home and had the windows down, A/C off and as I was slowing down/coasting in manual in 3rd toward a red light, there was a lull in the music for a second or two and I heard this squealing sound from the front. There were a couple cars stopped just ahead of me so I assumed it was a belt or hose from one of them.
So I rocked it for the next minute or so (because Third Eye's a rad song, dude) and when I got to my neighborhood and was again decelerating (no braking) in 3rd the song ended and I definitely heard the same noise. Out of habit and for the love of most of my neighbors, I put it into D when I got on my street and listened but didn't hear it again. But in D around 15-20 mph it shifts up to 5th or something and the RPMs obv get super low.
Is there anything to the "only in manual mode" thought I can't get out of my head, or am I being paranoid about some nonexistent tranny issue and it's probably just a belt? I'll def take it out and listen more tomorrow but thought I'd check here with you all.
Thanks in advance for any replies,
Dan

Although it usually happens on high RPM shifts, it could be the tensioner as mentioned here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...-5-5k-rpm.html

Hey Vervish,
Thanks for your reply. I actually had that supercharger sound issue in '14 and posted a bunch in that thread, but it didn't sound the same at all.
Then again, in that other thread the issue was always with acceleration. Maybe when coasting in Manual from 4th-3rd from 50mph down to about 30mph before braking it sounds totally different but is the same tensioner/belt noise.
