It really depends on the specific vehicle and what's the history at that particular oil change. If it's been daily in moderate weather for 2k, I'll go ahead and confirm level, and run it. Then change it after. If I'm 4.5K in, I'll change it prior, and have to decide how harsh the track day was (oil temps reached, time spent at rev limiter) and decide if I'll run it a bit longer. If it was a harsh event, then I'll change it after.
