I found a great place to install the Grom Vline. I was really against mounting it in the glove box or any of the other sketchy spots I have seen. While I was poking around below the dash and found a little niche between the blower and fuse panel. It fits like a glove.

Removing the airbag is optional (only 3 bolts) but does make it easier to route the wires:


GPS mounted right below the dash on top of the vent:


Microphone fits perfectly in the cavity here:


All buttoned up. You would never know it is there:

The OEM bottom cover pops right off (simply pull down) revealing access to the unit.

Awesome @cwtt !! I got in the January group buy and I too was not thrilled about putting it in the glovebox. Looks like you saved me some time!

Have you tested the audio quality with the mic behind the plastic? edit: or maybe I should ask if you still use the factory bluetooth for calls and then just the grom mic for vline voice control?

I mounted mine in the same area, just under the blower, there's a good 1/2" clearance between the unit and the plastic panel. Somehow there's a bracket and a small computer at that exact location on my car (2014) and I was also wondering why my kit didn't come with a microphone, I guess it uses the factory one cause voice command works.

08-09 have gen5 nav
10-12 have gen6
and it looks like 13 and 14 may have both received updates

so there must have been a way for grom to integrate the factory mic
