Unhappy Starter issue

My starter failed and since it requires removing the header to change, I ordered PPE headers. The headers should be coming in soon and I will need to move the car to another location.
In the past I have been able to tap on the starter on other vehicles to get them to function. But on the IS F there is not a way to do this that I can see.

Anyone had any luck getting your IS F started with a bad starter?

Thanks.

+ in for the lesson

Well...the good news is that you're getting PPE's installed!
Get a good deal on them? What shop are you using for the install of everything?

Just keep pressing the button and praying. There is no sure fire way to make it work once it quits. It's very likely you'll have to tow it if you need to move it.

I have a "kit" on the shelf now. Starter solenoid, connector body, and harness shield all in a bag so when the starter goes out on either car next time, I have everything I need in hand.

Ordered them from JM AutoRacing https://www.jmautosports.com the best deal I could find. But it's a made to order item and waiting on PPE to make them.

Do you just hear a single Click? i remember those days .... tried crawling under by the wheel well etc on passenger side to see if it was possible to do the "tap" technique - super tight and the case is hard enough

Click and a hum, like it trying to turn. But I just kept trying and it finally started.

Now my headers are delayed because PPE moved to a bigger shop and are running behind. Missing the F so Freaking much.

You'll need one of these for the harness cover.. Also @lobuxracer might suggest another necessary piece..

Also the Denso reman Starters are bargain, and put together in Japan next to the OEM ones..

Denso 280-0370 / OE Identical

90980-11400 Housing Connector F

You need this too. The connector body will likely crumble in your fingers when you go to remove it. FWIW, when I did my valley plate job, I only lost one direct injector connector, but I had all 8 on hand. I figured out how to remove them without damaging them or the injectors pretty quickly. It was impossible to do this with the connector on the starter.
