Just a quick question:

What is everyone using to clean their brake dust off? Products, or tools.
And also what is being used as a preventative ( besides not driving )

I have had high performance brakes before, but lexus has outdone themselves with this combo of dust clouds lol

Use P21S cleaner to clean the wheels, it's NON abrasive and works well. I just swapped to the Ferodo brake pads (after my stockers were worn) and they indicate that the Ferodo's don't dust as much as the stockers. Time will tell... I will tell you though, wash that dust off the wheels often b/c if you don't you will get wheel pitting that will ruin your wheels!

Washing is the safest bet. I wash mine about once a week.

 

Dawn, old trim-to-fit yellow pad, bucket of hot water, leaf blower, quick spray wax & 20 min to clean inside out.

The worst part is the shiny look doesn't even last after a drive around the town.

 

Dilute spraydown with Simple Green, quick scrub with a soft wheel brush, hose it down.

Good as new. Until I step on the brakes on the end of the driveway.

Crap I haven't washed my car's brake dust for 2 1/2 months but I only but 550 Miles since I just bought on December 31st. I hope I don't get pitting on my rims.

 

Smokey - go and wash them and you will see if pitting exists.

I always apply a very thin coat of vaseline, k-y, or whatever the kind you have of petroleum jelly to fight corrosion and make the next clean job a bit easier.

The sad part is I have OCD I wipe down the wheels everyday (and the car ), with Meguiers Quick detail!

But its just crazy!

I use Meguiar's All Wheel Cleaner and really the way the wheels look after washing and cleaning. I wet the wheel, spray some of it on there, let it sit a little while then get a wet hand cloth and hand wipe the cleaner all over the wheels before finally wash it all off. Looks good once your all done

Good to know I'm not the only one to quickly wipe away dust on the body and the wheels every two days or so while the car is warming up
