Default Ported Intake Manifold and Throttle Body

I have the ported intake manifold finished! It looks amazing! Need to get a stock car to see gains, but with the amount of work that was done (12 hours) we are expecting good power gains! The throttle body uses the factory throttle plate, and the surface is smoothed and polished. Here are some pictures!

Should make good power. Porting the intake manifold and throttle body made a world of difference on my friends zo6. Looking forward to the dynos.

Thanks for the pics. Looks like a I have a new project to do at home...I've done a little of this stuff too.

That's an NA-T 2JZ head intake port.

Are you planning to take the heads off and clean up the ports?

nice!

This intake looks like a perfect candidate for extrude honing.

In your opinion, what do you think the gains are going to be with this upgrade? My guess is around 7 rwhp, yours?

IME manifold porting can be worth 2 - 3%, head porting 5 - 7%. Most of it depends on how good a job the factory did. I've seen factory heads where they ran the seat cutters into the port and did a good job of blending the seats so the only way to really make a difference is to put in bigger valves. I've also seen head where the cores shifted during casting and left a huge step between the port and the seat making it impossible to get ideal flow (but even with core shift, you can do a lot to make things better.)

There are also relationships between valve size and seat diameter that the Japanese typically undersize compared to what American tuners like to see because the Japanese use a different approach to port sizing. I'd want to see what the ports look like and how they're sized before saying anything definitive about the 2UR-GSE.

I don't have pics of the work I did in the early 90's showing the details of how to do all this stuff right, but I've seen a few online resources who show how to do it right. I also wrote an article on this some time ago for the 2JZ.
