Default Exhaust Sound Thread

I've been doing a lot of research on the sounds of the different exhaust systems, and youtube has been great, but there's not a ton of stuff on there. Seems like we should have a thread on here where owners post up the sounds of their exhaust set ups as a reference for people looking to hear what systems sound like before they buy something. Anyone care to start?

I don't think there's much too it. It's either stock, loud (JoeZ) or louder (ISS). Unless they all use the same microphone, you can't rely too much on youtube videos, as sound quality is all different. Also, using someone's word on how their exhaust sounded is also another black hole of information. Depending on their creative writing skills, a system from pepboys can be described to make it sound better than JoeZ/ISS, etc.

In my opinion, because of the IS-F's V8, any reputable aftermarket exhaust like JoeZ, ISS, GReddy, HKS, Borla, etc. can make a ton of difference audibly from the stock system (i.e., LOUDER + all the other descriptive words and phrases people like to use when describing their exhaust).

Understanding which one is loudest is the most important, in my opinion. This should be the most important question anyone should ask or research before buying an aftermarket exhaust. Is your F, a daily driver? Can you stand the noise every day? Are you the type that loves making an entrance or you the sleeper kind? Does your job affect your decision on how loud? For example, I have a friend who is a real estate agent. Does he want to show up in a Lexus that sounds nothing like a Lexus?

Breaking down aftermarket exhaust by sound quality is unrealistic unless it's a side by side comparison; even then, it's subjective. They are all loud, and loud is good. The question should be, how loud is too loud for you and your situation.

I know in a comparison between the JoeZ and ISS, the ISS is louder. This is from JE, who have installed many JoeZ and ISS. In my case, I was very leary of being too loud. This is the reason why I chose to go with Sikky headers rather than an aftermarket exhaust. I wanted the hp gain and just a little more sound from the factory exhaust. I got exactly what I wanted and am happy with my choice for now....

A selection of sound clip from the exhaust and/or header mods probably won't mean as much in comparison to hearing them live for the ears to hear. But having heard both the Joe Z and ISS Forged exhausts, the ISS is louder. Some like it loud, and some like it really loud. I personally chose the Joe Z as I felt it had the most tolerable for myself. But Pete makes a good point- getting the headers should make for a deep, rich sound as well when paired with the factory exhaust.

Joe Z or ISS. There are a couple video clips on the forums of both exhausts.

i'm also wondering the same thing. More so the JoeZ, how much louder compared to stock is it? looking for something that quiet enough for daily driving but a beast when it needs to be...

The Joe z gets rave reviews but to be honest I'm thinking of getting the fabricator who made the intercooler piping and exhaust for my turbo'd civic to tig weld a custom set up with v bands and whatever components I want. Who knows, maybe save a couple hundred dollars and still get a stainless system that's as high quality as ISS or Joe Z and I get exactly what I want.

Let's not forget my custom fabricated duals using stock mufflers with PPE headers, Magnaflow cats and glass pack resonators:

Actually uploaded by Yemgi, not PPE. That is NOT Arizona.
