Default New Oil Filter Cap Wrench Tool

A week ago Jowett and Lobuxracer mentioned in another thread about an oil filter cap removal tool on ebay, that a Toyota Tundra guy invented.

I order one and tested it out today.

This thing is phenomenal!

I tested both a short ratchet and a longer one (for more torque) both worked equally well in removing the cap without slipping or stripping.

The filter tool fits perfect on our filter caps (which are aluminum, and most of the Toyota are plastic)

I needed no force to remove the cap, it locked in and spun right off. For $20.00 I highly recommend this tool to keep in your car, weather to help out your service technician or a DIYer.

sorry forgot to add - they also include the torque spec and other applications on the back of the label

Was using Toyota oil filter cap and couldn't find it.
Tired of the Assenmacher tool getting stuck.Hammer tap vibration hit or not.

That seems really weird. What is the benefit to having a individual element compared to a standard filter? Thanks for the tool link.

It's probably more cost effective. A lot of newer cars are going back to these style of filters.

Nice, i would prefer this over the OEM toyota tool that is floating around amazon for ~$25. The oem tool you need a 15/16 socket which isnt included with most common socket sets. Found out the hard way on a late night while changing the oil after all the hardware stores had closed.

You don't change your oil and filter because your not sure how to reset your oil light?

Here's Joe Z's awesome video

BTW - All Canadian cars do not utilize this feature (oil change warning light read out on the display or the warning triangle), and only use the Nav screen as maintenance reminders for oil change reminders....

It does appear to be a great solution. I wish it came in a 1/2'" drive vs the 3/8" drive it' s avaiable in. I know Lance (Lobux) feels the same way. But, the thought behind it is, IMHO, brilliant.
