IS300 with HIGH MILEAGE..
Sup guys
Hope everyone been doing fine, well but i been searching and stuff. Came across a high mileage 2001 is300.. It has about 150k on it and the guy is asking 6g, here is where im stuck at... i dono if the car is worth it or not but kelly blue books offer about 6.8g for a 150k is300..well i was thinking should i get it or not, thinking if i do, i would do the 90k service all over again, so it would be drive smoother, after all i think its all highway mileage, avg about less than 20k miles a year. Some input would great, have a good weekend every1.
Thanks,
Le

yeah man, i was thinking about getting it, but wasnt too sure if i should do, but lets say if i do get it, should i just get the 90k service done again, even if its been through it already? i mean i want to make this car run as new as possible. Heres the link to the dealer.

If you're looking for perfection, I'd skip that car and keep looking for one in the $8k range that is mint with paperwork near that mileage or lower.
I never buy from a seller that says "Hey it' a lexus, you only got 4k go buy a civic" right after he says "i put the cheap autozone brakes on it".
I wouldn't buy a stick of gum from that guy, especially not to go drop $1000 on the 100k mile service and still have a car with a beaten exterior.
6k is good if you just want an is300, not good for a starting point to build it back to perfect. Just buck up a few more bucks for one in better shape from someone who doesn't have their head up their *** talking about what you can't afford and putting $19 brake pads on the car. It is indicative of the service history the car has had, which is likely none.
(SIDE NOTE: ....and if you're here mr seller, you'll get a lot more serious inquiries without the contradictions.)

lol funnie,
but yeah i dont think that fixing the front bumper will be that big of a problem, since my bro owns a auto shop and i can always get a a prime job on it. But i will update with the problems on the car in a bit.

Here is the issue, make sure the struts are changed, timing belt, water pump, tranny service should have been done at least twice with T-IV only and iridium plugs. I would imagine they were all done if the 1gen is running fine. The 2jzge is a strong block.

Well haven't really got any answer yet back from the guy, he emailed me back saying he still have the car, but haven't answer if we gonna meet up or not, so we can test drive the car. blah.. all good tho, not really tryin to rush in getting a car, cause i flew by mad posts saying 'i should of waited this long and that, would of founded a better deal" lol u know what i mean. Just dont want to wait too long, figuring by spring time, these cars value might increase a bit. But searching still conts..Have a good day everyone.

My IS300 has 149k. Got mine for $7500 at 147,xxx a little over a month ago. has some little problems, but runs like a champ. Things wear out as they age, so just be prepared for it.
-My 1st and 2nd gear is slipping a bit.. Just changed the tranny oil with toyota T-IV and lucas auto tranny treatment and hopefully that helps a bit..
-The ECU is giving me error codes that my catalatic converters are not efficient..
-One of my HID headlight bulbs just blew out, as well as both of my license plate lights.
-Factory CD changer was broken (common), already installed an aftermarket deck.

that's not high mileage at all, its hard to even find these cars under 200k miles. I bought mine at 205k for 4500 5 speed , but it was very well kept up mechanically . Don't let these people fool you on pricing though. These cars hold value and 5speeds will naturally be more expensive because they are high demand, but a lot of the craiglist sellers are asking too high. But that really depends on how paperwork and condition. I would buy a well maintained mechanically, interior, and exterior 5 speed is300 100-150k miles for 5-6k all day. Some of the is300s for sale for 3k tend to be in bad condition, its hard to find a clean is300 but looking around major cities and being patient will be worth it.
