07 VDIM work?
#3
Yes, I test drove an '07 this weekend. Push the TRAC button for one second and a yellow light in the lower right dash display lights up but it shuts off above 30 mph or so. If you push the button for 3 seconds another light (I think it said "VSC" but don't quote me on that) lights up and stays on until the car is shut off. The salesman was a young guy even told me I could burn rubber if I wanted but I didn't out of respect for the future owner of the car. Interesting thing is that you cannot disable the VSC while in motion (I tried). You have to be stopped for the button to inactivate the VSC. This makes sense since you do not want to inactivate VSC going 80 mph into a corner.

According to my 07 manual it states:
To turn off TRAC: Quickly push and release button.
Push and release again to turn back on.
To turn off TRAC & VSC: push and hold button for more than 3 seconds
while vehicle is stopped.
Push the button again to turn the system back on.
There is a seperate indicator light for each.
I played with it enough to verify that it works.
I'm not interested in drifting or smoking tires.

So I guess VSIC = Trac + VSC?
So to totally disable, you must be at a stop and do the 3-second button press... Oh well, better than nothing...

It let me do the 3 second button while momentary stopped at a light.
Both indicators came on and stayed till I either pressed the button again
or shut of the ignition.

Swap the ECU and your combination meter. I suspect it won't work without the gauge swap because there is a VSC and a TRAC off indicator in the '07. There is only the TRAC indicator in the '06. The '06 combi meter may just error on the CAN data telling it to turn on the VSC off indicator, or it may do something more sinister. No way to know how it will behave on errors like that without testing.

No new buttons, and no new wiring. There is a slight change to the wiring, but it's transparent to the operation. They just moved some power and ground wire physical locations. Probably for production reasons more than anything else.
It appears one could get the new VSC ECU and plug it in. Just no idea what will happen when the '06 combination meter gets that unexpected data from the VSC off function.
