Alright guys, I have a 07 Is350. What im asking is how do i removed the Shark fin antenna. I don't have XM and i don't plan on getting it (mp3 cds and ipod is good enough). I have peeled it back a little bit. But i don't want to risk it. Ive searched a lot and came up with nothing. Why do i want to remove it? well im not to fond of it sticks out like a sore thumb on the back of my car. I like the more streamlined look on the 06's. Thanks for the help!

I'm not sure how to take it off but I would imagine you would have to take off the headliner and unscrew it from underneath.

I'm not too fond of the sharkfin antenna either. If you take it off wouldn't there be a hole there?

Yeah, you're going to wind up with a hole you need to have fixed, so you may as well
a) rip the sucker off and just get it fixed

or

b) have a pro do it

i want to take mine off too..... mines broken anyways. It hit the garage door and broke the whole garage door.

How in the world did your antenna hit the garage door. The IS isn't that tall.

BTW, like 509 said there's more than likely a hole in the roof for an antenna wire.

Also, does the sharkfin antenna function as the regular FM antenna. I know that the 06's have the FM/AM antenna in the rear glass, but didn't know if the 07's got rid of that in exchange for the fin

I was backing out and i had my music blasting and someone got home and they pressed the button for the garage to open while they were a few houses down and didnt know it was open and so when they pressed it it started to close and then it hit me and i didnt know what it was so i pulled foraward and somehow the door got caught on the Sharkfin and i pulled the whole garage door in. hahahahahaha i think this stuff only happens to me. The car is only 3 weeks old too....

What about the next owner?? When you sell your car the next owner may see it has been removed, so you are talking less money for your sale. Advice: leave it alone.

Just trade your '07 for '06.

Seriously though, I know how you feel. I don't like the shark fin antenna either.... luckily I have a "06 so I don't have to deal with it.

Sorry to bring up old thread but did you ever figure out how to take it off i'm having my roof painted and need to remove the shark fin in order to paint it the right way

If the antenna broke the garage door, that is one strong Sharkfin (LOL)? I am suprised it did not dent the roof if it caught it. You were lucky on this one. Looks like it would be best to leave the Sharkfin on and obtain one of those proximity obstruction sensors for your garage door opener so your car won't be hit again.
